I totally agree, +1. My netbook rocks with this!MX-14 is absolutely perfect on a netbook.

Re: MX-14 beta 2
Thunar locked up completely. I have the file tree shown in the left pane. I clicked on "File System" and it locked everything. My mouse cursor disappeared. The hardware power button no longer lets me log out.
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace doesn't respond either. Only thing I can think to do is to hold the power button for 8-10 seconds to shut the netbook down. I restarted to see if this happens again. I'm trying to access the / etc/default/ folder so I can edit grub, but it won't let me click the folder, nothing happens when I click it. Actually, I cannot click on anything. I just clicked to close thunar, and got popup to terminate application.
I worked around this by opening a terminal and as root, opened mousepad to edit the "grub" file.

Re: MX-14 beta 2
I haven't installed it on my netbook yet (Toshiba NB-100), but will do so soon to replace beta1.
This new beta, on my desktop, seemed a bit slower to install. Can't be certain, though.
The issue sound I reported for beta1 persists. I need to disable auto-mute to get sound working. Not a big deal.
I did get an unusual behavior when running Gparted on the live session before installing. I tried to mount a partition and then I got lots of Thunar windows popping up (one for each partition on my system). Of course, after that, all my partitions were mounted and locked in Gparted. I had to unmount them one by one.
However, I haven't been able to replicate that behavior.
BTW, is there a way to polish the Spanish version of the information messages in the installer? I can take care of that, if you want.

I did this a third time and watched the clock when I did it, so I could see if I could find the problem in a log file.Jon_J wrote:Thunar locked up completely. I booted into my slitaz partition and opened my MX-14-b2 /var/log directory and found 3 log files with the timestamp that was the same as above action.
Below is a segfault line in each of these 3 log files. They look the same to me. I hope I'm not cluttering up this thread with this.

Re: MX-14 beta 2
They're all the same segfault, reported/stored in multiple logfiles. I've see that every now and then in Mepis as well. I think it's harmless. The apt-notifier does a check every 5 minutes to see if updates are available. As long as it's not segfaulting every time (and filling up the logs), I don't get too concerned.Jon_J wrote:They look the same to me. I hope I'm not cluttering up this thread with this.

Re: MX-14 beta 2
I patched my ISO. I first checked the md5 of the patch and md5 of the new ISO.
I installed it and opened Thunar.
Thunar still locks up as in my previous post.
In Thunar I have the file tree showing in the left pane, and in the right pane I have all details shown.
When I installed this, I disabled 3 things in the startup settings page.
Bluetooth
Spamassassion
Printing (cups)
I did the same settings in beta 1
I installed this on a different partition, so I can go back to beta 1 if I need to.

Re: MX-14 beta 2
Can you please open a terminal and launch thunar from there? Then report back any messages you get.
Also: did this happen when running live as well?
