As Adrian noted, the name of iso file you would have gotten from the torrent is "MX-14_13.97.iso".

If that's what you have, you need to rename it to "MX-14_13.97_386-xfce.iso", because the patch is for a iso file with that name.
I missed the comment about renaming the file, so I created a new image, and it didn't work. I've now renamed the torrent ISO and am doing the xdelta3, again. Will report progress (or not).

I noticed that the file sizes from the AntiX and Mepis download sites appeared to be different, strange.

Same problem, sadly. :-(

...15 second timeout.

I'll have a think about some other possibilities.

I see that anti has uploaded another patch to: http://www.mepisimo.com/antix/Others/, "fix2_delta".
He hasn't said anything about it (yet).
I assume you apply it similar to the others.

The correct fix2-delta has just been uploaded along with its md5 to check. This adds a couple more modules to the initrd.gz.

'fix2-delta' fails. I'll try to think of another way, but I may come back when the installer can boot. If this is a big issue, should the ISO regress to '-alpha'? Could a different installer be used, as the antiX and Mepis ones seem to work, like other distros.

This looks like a great project, so i'll keep an eye on it and try the next published ISO.

Downloaded the iso from Anti's download site, using the apple machine.
Using Deb 7, and Kb3, erased the the alpha, burned the beta 1 onto the cd/rw. No problems.
Beta 1 cd r/w boots from the Apple(SATA), installs to usb external(IDE) HD, boots and runs good.

Seeing the booting problems, drop in the cd to the main machine. It is setup with IDE HD and DVD-R
and it does start booting and stops with the following:

Welcome to MX-14-13.97 beta1!
Current bootloader codes:
quiet antiX=MLX
loading modules from /live/custom/MX-14/module
Scanning usb,cd devices for antiX/linuxfs
Retrying for 15 seconds ...
Filtered devices: /dev/sda

No, have not tried the cheats yet. It does look like a IDE/SATA thing to me.

@zeeone, is that with the original "MX-14_13.97_386-xfce.iso", or did you apply anticapitalista's latest xdelta patch, fix2_delta?

If you used the original iso, I would apply the fix2_delta patch, burn a new cd, and try again.

Here's the instructions on how to apply the fix2_delta patch (they're anti's instructions from this post here: http://forum.mepiscommunity.org/viewtop ... 52#p327752 with "fix_delta" occurrences changed to "fix2_delta")
You need your original downloaded iso - MX-14_13.97_386-xfce.iso
You need to be running linux
You need to install xdelta3 if you don't already have it.

1. Download the patch called fix2_delta from here:

http://www.mepisimo.com/antix/Others/

2. Put the delta patch in the same directory as the MX-14_13.97_386-xfce.iso

3. In that directory, open a terminal and type:

xdelta3 -d -s MX-14_13.97_386-xfce.iso fix2_delta MX.iso

4. Burn MX.iso to cd/dvd

With the latest patched delta iso (as posted above), try this.

1. At boot grub, type bp=2
2. Press Enter/Return
3. At the prompt, type load-live-modules
4. Type exit

(It *might* work with the original downloaded iso before patching)

This worked for me, I think the CD I had was the delta2 version, but I've done this so many times, i'm no longer sure!

The X session struggled to configure, so I tried again with the cli-installer. The system is currently installing, so at least we managed to get past the boot problem. I have no idea why X isn't working, that's a first. One step at a time...

Cheers,

Chris.

### Off topic

System installed and I rebooted as directed. Got to the 'Boot from CD' prompt and it just waits and waits.......no GRUB errors reported during the installation.

Trying install again. If I have any more problems unrelated to this topic, I will post elsewhere.

Chris.
