apt-get install --install-recommends --reinstall bumblebee-nvidia nvidia-legacy-390xx-driver nvidia-settings -s
[/code]
seems to bring in a lot of stuff, but will optirun work?
Something's not right; loads of output, but nothing happens?

Greetings Team
Excellent - works as advertised - especially the grub boot menu is pure art - can finally see all
25x partitions, clearly - kiss - one caveat - tried to uninstall FF69, but synaptic wants to install
FF60-ESR instead - dont want that - want to install waterfox/seamonkey...
Any ideas, or is this simply beta blues ...
Regards
Jack

Still no good. I accepted the option to continue with an unsupported driver.

tried to uninstall FF69, but synaptic wants to install FF60-ESR instead
perhaps this first
Code: Select all
sudo apt remove 'libreoffice-help-*'

Thank you, Sir - will do and revert soonest ..
Strangely I tried to delete VLC, and synaptic wanted to delete a whole bunch
of libreoffice library files ... coincidence?
Regards
Jack
PS - of course the big test will come when I install KDE standard ...

Chris, what does the output of "nvidia-detect" say?

Chris, what does the output of "nvidia-detect" say?
Code: Select all
chris@mx19b2NV:~/Desktop
$ nvidia-detect
Detected NVIDIA GPUs:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GF108GLM [NVS 5200M] [10de:0dfc] (rev ff)
Checking card: NVIDIA Corporation GF108GLM [NVS 5200M] (rev ff)
Your card is only supported up to the 390 legacy drivers series.
It is recommended to install the
nvidia-legacy-390xx-driver
package.

starting to get closer. this is so frustating. your output indicates it tried to install both nvidia-driver and nvidia-legacy-390xx-driver.
I'm feeling like maybe there is a problem with bumblebee setups and legacy drivers. But I'm not done yet, you've given me more to work with.

chris,
lets' purge out any nvidia stuff remaining.
reboot, and then try
Code: Select all
sudo apt install bumblebee-nvidia nvidia-legacy-390xx-driver nvidia-legacy-390xx-driver-libs nvidia-legacy-390xx-driver-libs:i386 nvidia-legacy-390xx-kernel-dkms
