Excellent! I will try to get a fixed version to you. Are you okay with the command line?
Thank you for your help! I have a new policy that when people help out like this I send them an antiX sticker. If you would like a free sticker then please PM me your address.

Command line is okay. Why not. I know how to type :D
Well, there are a lot of people that help around here. I didn't do much. I wish I could do more.

FWIW, I just updated a MX 19 Beta i386 install in virtualbox that had not been run in maybe a month. All 200+ updates went well--mx-apps updated to 19.10.3 without any hangups. The problems earlier in this thread seem to relate to the previous release, not the current one, so perhaps they aren't making sure they are up to date, or their mirrors are lagging.

This may have to wait until tomorrow. I'm exhausted and the Debian sysvint circus confuses me. The sticker thing is because you reported a problem and then had the patience to help us track it down and (hopefully) fix it. I don't like having bugs. If it costs me a little money and a little time when there is a bug then that might help me create fewer of them. When I was teaching at University a million years ago I would give out gold stars to students who did really well. It's kind of silly but I think it works anyway. For you, it would be a reminder that your help is appreciated, perhaps turning a negative into a positive. A token of our appreciation. It might be silly but I think it works anyway.
Ah yes. It's very simple. I treat humans like I treat my dog. I reward behavior I want more of. I don't reward behavior I want less of. This seems simple and easy and obvious but it does not seem to be applied nearly enough. If I want more of something then I give a thumbs-up, a tip, a recommendation, a donation, or a sticker. I vote with my attention, my energy, and my wallet. This is how we make the world a better place.

woof

.... okay. I surrender... :rollover:
when you implement the fix, I will test it. I gotta sleep now. It's 5:30am here. I'm way off my curfew. Have a good night BjtJam :-)

I finally got around to installing MX-19RC1 on my primary computer (HP Pavilion DV6 laptop) today. The entire process took around 3 1/2 hours including installing a couple of apps from the test repo plus one flatpak app, adding a second panel, then setting up both panels the way they were in 18.3. That's not too bad: less than four hours every few years to reinstall after a new version of Debian Stable comes out. I can live with that. (BTW I was also doing other things, so if I'd dedicated the entire time to setting up 19RC1 it would have been faster.)
The only glitch was that the weather panel app was showing nighttime icons for some reason. I checked all of my time settings and the date and time in BIOS: all correct. The clock and conky were showing the correct time of 1PM too. I made a screen capture and wanted to circle the icon in red, so I had to install pinta which I had forgotten to do. By the time I'd added the red circle and saved the image prior to posting about the problem I happened to look at the panel again and the problem had come clear. Weird. I've never encountered that in any of the betas or the 32-bit version of RC1.
Anyway, all done. Most of my settings got saved except my latitude and longitude in fluxgui, and my location in the weather applet. Everything else is there: browser bookmarks and default home pages, my mailbox in Thunderbird, etc. So far, so good.

My system is a Dell D630 (Intel T7250 CPU, Intel GMA965 chipset (ICH8) with integrated VGA (GMA X3100)). The new 19RC1 display very dark. I think the brightness on minimum. When I push the "brightness up/down" keys, I get a popup animation to brightens changed, but the display stay dark. The stable version (18) no such problem.
