I posted links to videos by DO before. Two, one on how to work with that ESP and one on the UEFI/legacy issue..

Found them.

2. Create an ESP-partition
The shown /dev/nvme0n1p1 is a 256MB vfat partition - but it is not a ESP (EFI SystemPartion, yet)
Within Gparted you need to "mark" the /dev/nvme0n1p1 as "esp" + "boot" , otherwise this partition is not recognised as ESP.

So please run again a manual custom-installation, but do prepare nvme0n1 as such:

:->: ESP 256MB vfat maked as esp+boot
:->: "/"-root ext4 partition
:->: no boot partition.
:puppy:

+++EDIT: +++
And if you really want to install and boot only in legacy (BIOS) mode, do create a MSDOS-partition table,
which can hold the embedded legacy GRUB-loader.
Otherwise with GPT-partion table -as mentioned - you "must" (or better do so) to create a 1MB sized unformated partition marked as bios-grub/grub-bios, preferable as first partion on the drive.
This is what my gpt screen looks like on 19b2.1:
mx19b2.1 gpt X1g5.png
1) I can't edit the mount points with Gparted, nor the Names of partitions e.g. ESP - I can only create labels and manage flags (the latter clearly not required for MX - they are empty on my pc
2) How on earth is the person who is installing MX for the 1st time should know (has just downloaded ISO from distrowatch) how to set the partitions in this particular way with gpt? Is there an MX WIKI for that?
Please fix the autoinstall for UEFI and I will gladly set and forget, without all this "song and dance" routine with gpt

OMG .. The top video (thinkpad BIOS) explains why my MX install was going to BIOS mode (Legacy) - I had UEFI boot set to "both" and CSM set to "enabled". I will make sure it's fixed before next install.
Priceless piece of info, should be on the front page of MX website.

Screensaver takes over regardless what I defined in energy-control.
I tried "presentation mode" where screensaver shouldn't interfere.
I disabled any screensaving-activities and any other options.
Nothing helps. After 10 minutes, the screensaver is at work.
How can I cange that ?

Have you read the HELP file on the screensaver?

Jerry, have you even watched the youtube video I'm referring to?
There's a couple of interlinked Thinkpad BIOS settings that if set incorrectly would prevent MX from installing in UEFI mode.
I mentioned that in my post above.

Gladly! But not until the Devs fix the minstall.conf issue that breaks the "full disk" autoinstall in minstall-gui ;)

Is this a limited case though?

I want to say that I installed filled disk UEFI boot set to "both" and CSM set to "enabled" just a few days ago on a desktop. Won’t be able to check until I get home later tonight.

Maybe we should start compiling a laundry list of systems on the wiki needing specific BIOS settings for install issues. I think there is a website that does this in general for Linux already for notebooks/laptops.
