I fixed it by installing LibreOffice 6.3 on the live system, went to https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ for the debs, and you have to install all the debs in the DEBS folder. On that note, MXPI doesn't like going to Debian Backports. When you click the Backports tab, it does some processing and then immediately without any message, flips back to the popular apps tab.

I haven't tested 6.2.7 yet 6.2.7 also works, and there are 32-bit debs for that one.
On that note, MXPI doesn't like going to Debian Backports. When you click the Backports tab, it does some processing and then immediately without any message, flips back to the popular apps tab.
Not sure that fixes the problem, seems like more of a workaround. Question remains unanswered if I understand correctly: why does LO work on an installed instance but not on Live?
