Coming straight from Windows 7 recently, the transition has been surprisingly easy. I'm so happy that MX is not only better than Win7 but has from what I can see, none of the downsides of later Windows.
One of the things I particularly like is the way it handles a 3rd monitor (TV), which is really the 2nd as the screen on my laptop is now disabled. Win 7 would regularly have issues when the HDMI cable to the TV was plugged in whereas MX never does. It also had a very clunky speaker interface with 7, whereas MX gives me the two speaker options instantly allowing me to choose either TV or laptop with just one click.
The other thing I really like is the Suspend feature which works every time which I never got to work with 7.
With 7, I was a Thunderbird, Firefox, OpenOffice user for many years, so for me to have these as defaults already installed felt like coming home to somewhere that understood.
