--- NO SOLUTION ---
I told him to take the printer back and I'm returning the toner which I purchased. After more than 12 hours of fiddling and researching I finally give up.

Canon LBP7018C Printer compatible, but not working? [Solved]
Re: Canon LBP7018C Printer compatible, but not working?
@germany
You still need a printer, don't you? I suggest that you search for HP display models AKA "open box" models or low end Brothers and you should be able to find an affordable unit that will work with Linux without too much fuss.

HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;
In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Re: Canon LBP7018C Printer compatible, but not working?
Yeah, I ordered an HP Envy 6420e today. It's not laser but it'll suffice. Have an HP 3750 and that one prints really well with Linux.
EDIT: Printer arrived today, on Feb 28. Installed Linux HP Lib printing package before setting up the printer. When that was done, connected via USB followed by powering on the printer. Within 5 minutes I was able to print a test page. The price, new, was only 69 Euros with delivery included. I guess from now on I'll just be sticking with HP for all printing needs.
