I'm so sorry - I thought I had explained this!

Anyway - I booted to MX 23 on sda and ran sudo grub-update.
In MX Boot options on MX 23 I now saw Liquorix as alternativefor MX 21 but didn't change anything here.

So I rebooted and chose the MX 21 installation on sdb and now I'm on liquorix:

Code: Select all

System:    Kernel: 6.12.6-1-liquorix-amd64 [6.12-7~mx21ahs+1] x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 10.2.1
           parameters: audit=0 intel_pstate=disable amd_pstate=disable
           BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-6.12.6-1-liquorix-amd64 root=UUID=<filter> ro
           Desktop: Xfce 4.18.1 tk: Gtk 3.24.24 info: xfce4-panel wm: xfwm 4.18.0 vt: 7
           dm: LightDM 1.26.0 Distro: MX-21.3_x64 Wildflower June 18  2023
           base: Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye)
Next I'll test out the Pulse Audio Panel plugin and see if everything works as it should.

Thank you for your patience with me and my poor explanations...

Hi again!

I'm back with Liquorix kernel!
And since I changed kernel (?) I got this message on first start of the virtual machine:

Code: Select all

VirtualBox can't operate in VMX root mode. Please disable the KVM kernel extension, recompile your kernel and reboot (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE).
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0X80004005)
Component:
ConsoleWrap
Interface:
IConsole {6ac83d89-6ee7-4e33-8ae6-b257b2e81be8}
Luckily I had had this error before and had logged solution from

Code: Select all

https://mxlinux.org/blog/6-12-kernels-coming-to-ahs-repo-soonish/

Code: Select all

	Other users can make the change manually by adding a /etc/modprobe.d/kvm.conf file with the following contents
	options kvm enable_virt_at_load=0

But still: Pulsadio Panel Plugin (xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin) is disabled when I start up a virtual machine.

What to do next, please?
