If I remember correctly, antiX comes with connman to connect to wifi, MX comes with network-manager. It may be worth a try to purge connman and install network-manager on antiX? I love connman when it works, but have had situations where it didn't and using something else (like network-manager) is one way to attempt to resolve the problem.

If you like only you can even dual boot. Our last step would be (and I believe that would fix it) to install the most recent firmware directly from the original source (git) similar to that kernel installation: "1 liner" ...
If you still have antiX there or in case you'd like to try someday just tell me :)
In fact your pc specs are even better than mine, Roughly: Cpu is 4 cores vs 4 cores, Your Ram is 4 times than mine ... it shouldn't be that heavy ...
You can simply uncheck items that you don't use everyday / frequently, from "Session and Startup" - App. Autostart tab, also you can stop services or disable at boot from "MX Service Manager"... In case you don't know what that service is just do nothing or ask on forum ...
Also it's possible to play with some other settings, making use of "zram" and/or playing with the swappiness value etc...
P.S. It's also possible to boot "fromiso" .. So simple (and fast).. you can boot with when you don't need internet (in your case) and do some work.. Just, things will be temporary there as it's just an iso file, changes (related to that system and user) won't be saved ...

If you're interested in antiX and MX dual-booting is a good option. I even created an unofficial .iso which has them both in one .iso as a proof of concept. (I called it MantiXX). It is MX with antiX as a frugal install, you install it like any MX installation and there's simple instructions on the desktop to activate the antiX frugal. https://drive.proton.me/urls/EV2VR76AGW#3RUft1rFYMAx
I would have liked to synced the home folders "Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos" but there's many different ways to do so. Accessing files from either would be best way to utilize the dual-boot.
