There is no need to really pick one, like.. on xfce here. I use mxpi for installing new things. Upgrading and removal is done with Synaptic. Just the way it works best for me :)

Which of the two in MX KDE do you use to do the updates? Discover or MX Updater?
Eadwine Rose wrote: Sun Aug 25, 2024 10:35 am You should use what you are most comfortable with. So.. try both and decide. What someone else uses doesn't matter.
Exactly. I prefer nala in a terminal so that is what I use on all three of my desktops (fluxbox, XFCE and KDE).
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;
In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Re: How to perform updates on MX Linux KDE
Thanks for the tip, from what you explained it would be good to use MX Updater to make the updates.richb wrote: Sun Aug 25, 2024 10:43 amI will answer. I use MX Package Installer. I only use Discover when I have downloaded user contributed images, icons and other appearance addons. These are contributed by KDE users who are not necessarily MX users so are not available in MXPI.ydek wrote: Sun Aug 25, 2024 10:29 am @richb

@richb
In Discover, when there are new updates, an icon appears on the panel with a message: Security updates available.
Does a message also appear in MX Updater when there are new updates?
Sorry for so many questions.

Re: How to perform updates on MX Linux KDE 23 [Solved]
Yes a message will appear that updates are available. And as before indicated the panel icon will turn a solid green.
Best thing is to use the system and see what it does.
