I havent found anything like what your describing in any of my testing, or poking at it last night. I did find that there was some strange 'second screens' that popped up in Virtualbox when in KDE and also some weird non centering after the latest mesa update (I think it was the mesa update, might have been the plymouth init script update .. unsure and will test it more thoroughly today.)

And I was able to get two 'hangs' at startup using KDE ( both in VB ), so I something is definitely off there and I will find and fit it.

thanks for looking into it. I really like the new theme, so I hope something can be figured out. I do have the ahs-staging update of mesa installed (24.X) so maybe that's a factor, but somehow I don't think so.

I found the issue. Working it out now and will retest thoroughly before sending an update.

Two things actually.
1) There is a Maximum Call Back value that I was using incorrectly.
2) Because the Max CallBack was not being implemented properly, I had a call to an array member that was going out of bounds :-(

I should have had a better check on the second one... but the first one 'caused' it . HA !

SO, I have a stable and fast moving MXImagine working on xfce without issue. ( Still need more testing, but working on five machines .)

AND on a KDE MX23 ( MX-23_KDE_x64 Libretto July 31 2023 base )

However, the minute I load the 410+ updates.. I get an unstable system ** regardless ** of what splash I use. ( Even spinner! ) If I dont run a splash then it all works fine. ( This is on two of four test KDE systems - the other two run just fine. )

I have backed up, and installed just the mesa and plymouth init update and also works without an issue... so now I am applying the Plasma updates and a few other apps and will keep testing.

Something in the updated files is causing issues with any splash on my test system. And, I am now seeing the blinking cursor at the left top when it goes south on me. ( been seeing this in the forum recently, so something recent is cause on *some* machines)

I used an 8.8mb file called DarkAngles-BootMenus.run in mx21.3 to change the boot ani and it looks a lot similar to the 'MXLiveLogo' theme in the current mx23.4 setup I run now. What would be cool is a different 'coming-out-of-hibernation' animation. It's just a small circle in the center with no variation. Maybe the boot ani in reverse?

Really thanks to CharlesV's effort, If without CharlesV this plymouth theme not deliver to MXer.

My satisfied points in this MXImagine theme:
1. Smaller logo that @dreamer says
I think a logo should be a subtle and small ”mark of quality”. If it takes up a large portion of the screen it’s too much in my opinion.
I agree.

2. Natural shooting star moving
I saw real shooting star in my hometown few years ago, that's very tiny light, vanish in about 2seconds.
THE MX logo and MXLive boot animation expressing "hope from the dark" It is same concept,
hope is fleeting things, that's same as shooting star. People lost to see that little lights and forget that easily.

3. Media-Art like motion design
I'm originally near to the person of media-art field. I was want to make more media-art's motion design more than MXLive.

PS.
MX-21 Honesty, MX-23 THE Darkmetal. these are "dark" taste, I little have regret these dark(depression) taste.
This MXImagine (for MX-25 and later) is different, This expressing the lightness of fleetng hope.
I want to deliver modest light of hope to the MX users.
In the world filled desire,
I seek only essence, serve for MX.
I just needing only ideal in the art at all.
I want to protect place of rest called MX LINUX. :coffee:

@CharlesV I'm hard to say because this proposal needs more work.
Shutdown animation is too long I think.
Many user needs speedy shutdown, In past case MXLive, I reduce pictures to half.

At this time, 2x speed reverse animation probably can realize at this method...

On file manger "reduce pictures to half" and at coding, shutdown total processing time set to half.
