How old IS that hard drive ?
The benchmark I linked to in post #11 shows that it hit retail in late summer 2013.

Not to mention that it's interface is Serial-ATA/300.
vendor: Hitachi model: HTS545050B9A300 size: 465.76 GiB block-size:
physical: 512 B logical: 512 B speed: 3.0 Gb/s type: HDD rpm: 5400

Disk Interface Serial-ATA/300

Drive Ready Time (typical) 3.5 seconds

Honestly, I would be looking at antiX for this type of machine.

I have a couple of links you can look at but I don't think they will help much on a computer that old (2012).

MX-21 here, I find Vivaldi and Brave both slow to awaken on a cold start.
They've been like that for as long as I can remember, I figured it was just a Chromium based thing.
They both take around 40 seconds vs Firefox & Firefox ESR that usually take around 10 seconds.
Same extensions in both, UBO & tabs to the front, same bookmarks etc., even without extensions running they still take a lot longer than FF or FF-ESR.
I find the differences comparable on other machines I have too, MX-21 and MX-23.
