what is a good PDF reader on linux?
Re: what is a good PDF reader on linux?
That is what I mean with different use cases: I have seen these suggestions concerning PDF reader / viewer often, they are obviously valuable solutions for many. On the other hand I wouldn't even consider Firefox for high lighting, it does not help in scientific research or studying with books and papers where you constantly need to mark passages in different ways, find them, copy them, modify them, export them, add bookmarks for table of contents and so on.

I like Evince, Gnome document viewer as a reader for pdf's. Lightweight and quick with a good search function. It's not all encompassing, but it does most things I need it to.

Just discovered Quoppa PDF Studio Viewer which seems to be the perfect solution for me. The viewer is a free, proprietary PDF reader for Linux. Highlighting, annotating and creating bookmarks are included - which are outstanding features for academic, juridical etc. use.
PDF Studio Pro is their PDF productivity application. It is not free. It has a huge list of features. Plus: no subsciption model. CubicleNate just reviewed it here.

There is a new, redesigned version of Zotero (Flatpack version is 7.0.7). (Zotero is a software to collect, organize and cite literature (pdf, epub ...). Its integrated PDF reader is updated too and now handles epub as well. Highlighting and annotating in pdf is among the best implementations that is currently available on all platforms.
