Response to #19.
I am not trying to be nasty, just ignorant.
I have absolutely no idea what "code tags" are. After copying that huge mass of "stuff", I went forward and posted it hoping for the best.
Please educate me and I will do my best to comply.
If #21 is intended for me====muskt====I will submit it after I learn how.
For #22, I truly appreciate your efforts. I shall wait patiently, & hope something develops.
Thanks Kindly,
Jerry

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Esperience MX Linux 23 RC2 64=bit
Good evening, my name is Mauro and I live in Italy. I've been using linux for over 20 years. Lately I had abandoned it a bit because with an old notebook I was afraid of compromising the Windows 10 installation. A Windows 10 Pro that was no longer able to load in biblical times. I have had a new notebook with decent hardware for a month now and have tried the VMWare Player 17 experience. I have used many VM in the past without ever trying VMWare. In one month, taking advantage of the VM I tested many distributions (at least 20) but today, testing MX Linux 64-bit I really liked it. It was an immediate feeling. And it turned out to be even more enjoyable than the other distro I kept: Linux Mint. The only problem I had, after installing the various drivers, was the Italian localization of various apps such as LibreOffice (which I then downloaded manually). Hi everyone

OK, I may see some issues related to the installer.muskt wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 2:41 pm This is the follow on to post #16.
To prevent asking, I do not install Grub on a new Linux install. I leave it on the 21.3 install, and update it there--it has worked for me in this manner for the last 2-3 version installs.
I do not know if my method is correct.
Anyway, Here is the requested log.
The show stopper in you case is this:
Code: Select all

2023-07-15 14:28:31.439 DBG default: -- FAILED Phase 4 - Failed to update initramfs. --
May be you can do this:
Before trying to install again.
When booted with the MX LiveUSB do
open Xfce-terminal command line and create a file using this command:
Code: Select all
echo MODULES=most | sudo tee /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/modules-most
The above will create simple text file ( /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/modules-most )
with just one line
Code: Select all
MODULES=most
Thanks

Re: MX-23 RC2 (Xfce) feedback thread
That's an important info to have, cause I wanted to complain about not being able to even run a live session, will have to see if how much of a hassle setting up the same stick with new ventoy is.j2mcgreg wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 11:27 am If you use Ventoy to create the install drive, you must upgrade to the latest version. the earlier versions of Ventoy are incompatible with MX 23.
Thank you very much in advance
