Re: Display Resolution Set Too High
OK thank you
Re: Display Resolution Set Too High
In fact, that card was known to be problematic (didn't even load the drivers with 5.4 and before) and it was ok by kernel 5.8 ...
I just wonder if you had tried any other distros, is it the same there/ everywhere ? (Meanwhile, no need to install each time, just live session is enough to try)

Re: Display Resolution Set Too High
This is the first distro I have tried on this laptop
Re: Display Resolution Set Too High
If it was an external monitor then I'd say just try a different type of cable, say DVI / VGA / HDMI instead of each other..

It's a laptop I'm afraid
Re: Display Resolution Set Too High
You also tried this?
Code: Select all
sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Re: Display Resolution Set Too High
Though I don't think this will cure it, nothing to lose:
"MX Tweak" from menu, "Other" tab: "Use Intel driver instead of modesetting" , check, click Apply, reboot.
P.S. You can revert back the same way.

Re: Display Resolution Set Too High
No such file or directory is reported, when I ran the xorg.conf command. And I tried your previous suggestion in MX Tweak, to no avail.
Re: Display Resolution Set Too High
Ok, we just need to find out what causes that, to not keep the set resolution and turn back to highest one.
If you like, you can also (just to compare) try MX KDE version on live session.
