...as an alternative for xfce...
Let me make sure you understand: MX-Fluxbox is an "overlay" for MX-19 and its Xfce, not an alternative to it. It is only a Window Manager, and does not provide the elements of the Desktop Environment that come from Xfce.

Hi Jerry,
Thx for your reply! It worked quite okay on my Netbook, but it's "not my cup of tea"... I'd rather stick with xfce!

Understandable. I agree that out of the box, MX-fluxbox may be too "different" from mainstream to what users expect... If you want to, doing stuff like adding a start menu, putting the toolbar on the left or on the bottom, with the clock to the right, can be very easily achieved. You can also have direct access to all your applications on the menu, etc... you may miss regular desktop icons and also quick launch icons on the toolbar, tough.
Maybe you can try out a future version???

I'm working on a "traditional" option for people committed to comfort, and have come pretty close. The start icon ix actually a dockapp in the slit. It was created with a new app that will soon be in the repos called
wmalauncher; it's not easy to figure out, but it is very powerful.

I've been playing withMX Fluxbox on my old 32-bit netbook this week. So far, so GREAT! Just 180MB idle RAM usage! I'm using the Falkon browser from the stable repo, Claws Mail instead of Thunderbird, Abiword instead of LibreOffice: lighter weight, faster alternatives.

It's in 2.0, as are docks created from it. Check out the <cough> documentation for details--we have a wmalauncher gui in beta, too.
