I have been using KDE Plasma installed from MXPI for about 3 months. Reboot and shutdown using SDDM work without a problem. I wonder if it has something to do with your computer.

I should add that I aslo installed KDE Full using Synaptic.

Could you open your Settings and let me know which SDDM theme you are using, ie its name?

The default Debian SDDM theme that came with the Debian 10 KDE-Standard install does not even have any shutdown/reboot controls/buttons on the login screen!

It is Crown Blue. i got it using the Get new themes feature in settings for sddm. I have been messing with appearance settings in KDE for a while. I agree the combinations seem to be endless.

Just installed and tested it.

Nope.

Still can't click on the suspend/reboot/shutdown buttons. They are greyed out in login screen. Just like it used to be in Neon. Of the 4 buttons under the User and password fields, the only button that is clickable is "Different User".

Very strange.

How did you install KDE Plasma? I found that quite a bit was missing if only installing KDE Standard from MXPI. Perhaps some necessary packages are not installed. Maybe check the dependencies for sddm to be sure they are installed.

Like I said, KDE-Standard, using MXPI (Popular Apps tab)

[Added] the main dependencies and recommended packages for sddm were older sddm themes.

I tried to install various qtquick -related packages (except for the -dev and debug ones) since the .qml scripts in the various sddm themes (including crown blue theme) all mention qtquick. No change.

Begs the question; How did you install it? Enabling Debian Testing, Unstable?

Sid was only able to get me to 5.17. Norbert Preining maintains repos for jumping up to 5.18.5. https://www.preining.info/blog/2020/05/ ... or-debian/

I enabled his repos and sid, and only updated the plasma and kde packages, and then disabled Norbert's repos and sid again and allowed the usual MX and Buster repos to update the rest of the system. This was for experimental purposes only, I fully expect it to break if I keep updating it like this. But for now it is working fully as far as I've tested, and MX tools are all working.
