@ceeslans Thanks for your recent post about upgrading to MX23:
viewtopic.php?p=730037#p730037
And, thanks
@Adrian for your article about MX21 -> MX23 upgrade:
https://mxlinux.org/wiki/system/upgradi ... nstalling/
Definitely will try it out on an MX21 system (old laptop) that doesn't have any data on it.
This reminds me that there's SO much more to learn, just in the MX Wiki alone
Another amazing source to review, before jumping into the Forum to find answers.

This phenomenon happened with xfce, as well as with KDE.
A reinstallation via the downloadable ISOs from you worked smoothly.

You may have update to latest version of mx-installer, where you missed to mention which version that would be.
The version released yesterday (?) appears to have subvolume-btrfs issue and a bug-fixed version is worked on
or already on the way to the repos.

I have to say, I've hopped a lot of distros, but this is my first stint with Xfce. I've been on the beta now for two weeks, using the platform professionally (12+ hours a day). I have had no problems with this at all.
I did have to flip it over to systemd to work with some init pods, but overall, the presentation is impressive.

OK, thanks.
Is it enough to make the Live-USB persistence and update it? Or must update the host system and make a new snapshot and USB?

I also tried last night to use the beta2 snapshot feature and it didn't work with the same result during installation from iso/usb
I tried sudo, not using -E option, changing to root... no use.
"No subvolumes could be created." error at 11% formating partition (btrfs) on minstall gui.
I ended up copying the home folder and changing permissions to $user home folder, so it could boot using config files from last snapshot over a fresh beta2 installation.

You would use the updated mx-installer within the running live system, regardless whether persistence is used or running read-only e.g from ISO. The installer takes what the live system is running to install onto target drive(s).

The latest version 23.6.05mx23, which shsosuld be available by now on the repo's and potentially on the mirrored -repos, is suppost to have fixed the "cannot create subvolume" issue.
The recommended use on the terminal command line would be to start the installer
as normal user with
