One small thing though - for the second time in a few days, my keyboard layout has set itself back from German, which I usually use, to English (US) which is what I use for my system defaults. First time this happened was overnight when I wasn't at the computer. Just now, it occurred while I was working. I had to reset it manually and reboot. German layout is active again, but oddly enough, when I checked after rebooting, the keyboard layout option for English (US), formerly displayed, has now vanished from the display. It's still in the drop down list but I'm not going to set it as an option again for now.
Not really clear to me what this is about. Is keyboard different after login? From what display has it vanished?
System wide keyboard layout definition are different to user-session defined one and are applied depending on user-keyboard settings...
+++EDIT+++ ... and depends on whether autologin is enabled, b/c at login screen the default keyboard pre-selected would be the 1st layout from system-wide defined keyboard layouts...

Login on this machine requires password. The keyboard layout I have set (German in my case) is the one I unfailingly get after I've logged in, which is as it should be. Expected behavior would be for this layout to be
maintained throughout the session.
Twice, however,
in mid-session the layout changed from the top one in my list of active layouts to the second one (in my case, English US)
without my doing anything to prompt that.

Been using MX21 RC1 since it was released and all of the bugs I noticed in the beginning have already been corrected. I'm not a power user but MX is my daily driver. The only issue that I am still experiencing is the behavior of the suspend power mode. I have the power manager set to suspend when laptop lid is closed. But when I do that I am unable to log back in after waking the system up. When I enter my password and hit Unlock the screen goes blank. No mouse cursor or anything. Ctrl+Alt+Delete gets me back to the login screen but when I try again, same result. The only way to get out of it is to restart. If I select suspend from the shutdown menu it works fine. Only happens when I shut the lid while running.

Hello,
I have Xiaomi EBs Basic 2 earplugs. On 19.4, they work well. On 21RC1, they pair, but bluez only (tries to) connect to the serial port profile, and ignores the audio. I first noticed it on AHS, but it also happens on "normal" XFCE.
First machine, with AHS:

As I wrote, both work well on 19.4, on different machines.

$ grep XkbDisable ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/keyboard-layout.xml
<property name="XkbDisable" type="bool" value="false"/>
OK, this tells us, you disabled system-layout within (user) Keyboard Settings
and with MX-21 Xfce the only one keyboard which is selected at the login screen
will be made active/available by some dbus-calls during login.
Not sure why it resets itself during a session, seems somehow related to dbus.
If you want to avoid this effect, I guess if you set back to use "System keyboard" it shall stay with the select layout.

Yes, I'd actually disabled the system defaults setting, but only after the second time the keyboard hat reset itself. I've now re-enabled it which, after a reboot, brought back the English US option as the second one, with German, as intended, on top. Thanks for looking at this. If it continues to act up, I'll report :-)

@entropyfoe and
@fladd when you update next time, please take a moment to look around, a change was specifically done to address an item you both provided feedback on.
I won’t spoil the surprise, if you don’t find it, your not testing enough or properly.
Edie: that last part is a joke if the smiley didn't give it away, added clarity to keep Eadwine Rose off my back!

If you said that to me I would say something like bye.
Please be careful in your wordings, you're chasing them off
