M12 11.9.92
Re: M12 11.9.92
I can confirm both the problem, and that installing Wheezy's version of libnss3 will correct it.
So...I guess the older MEPIS version can be considered deprecated, and Warren should purge it from the repo?

Re: M12 11.9.92
That would help, but I think the Google folks should fix the dependency.Stevo wrote:I can confirm both the problem, and that installing Wheezy's version of libnss3 will correct it.

The way it is right now the '2:3.14.2-1' version is considered to be greater than or equal to '3.14.3' so apt goes ahead and installs Chrome 30.
The Ubuntu raring and saucy nss packages also use the "2:" prefix (I forgot what the correct term is for that part of versioning).
The earlier buntu versions don't use the prefix though so you would probably break Chrome for them if you changed the dependency to ">= 2:3.14.3".
Can you create a dependency where it would wildcard or filter out the "2:" part for the versions it checks for?

Just got a new update to Google Stable: Version 30.0.1599.101
I can confirm it is much faster, than the previous version i had troubles getting to run, before libnss3 was installed...
Again thanks Kmathern & Stevo for the knowledge & fix in the latest beta 11.2.92...

You're using the 64bit package which seems to have installed okay for you.namida12 wrote:Just got a new update to Google Stable: Version 30.0.1599.101

It does look like the 32bit package has some problems though according to this forums.debian.net thread: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php? ... 75#p515575, because they included some 64bit dependencies in the 32bit package.

Re: M12 11.9.92
Hi All
I am in the process of fixing up a fairly recent PC that i aquired. it is almost 5 years old. i plan on using it to replace the older Dell that i am currently using. it was a custom built box with a MSI MS-7529 Motherboard with a Intel 82G33/G31 Express Integrated Graphics Controller onboard. the kernel driver is i915. the problem is that i cannot get Mepis M12 11.9.92 to boot into a graphical screen. splashy does work, but i found that the boot process was extremely slow. id the i915 driver excluded from Mepis?
i know that usually on most linux distributions, there were usually no issues with Intel Graphics chipsets.
i do not have any trouble with other distributions booting into a full desktop on this PC, only Mepis M12 is giving me trouble. i have tried KWheezy, Debian 7.1 KDE edition, Kubuntu 12-04, & Linux Mint 15. they all work.
is there something i need to do to get it to work? after splashy disappears, all there is is just a black screen with a little flashing curser in the top left corner.

Update to Google-Chrome Stable 30.0.1599.101 32bit fails,
[taken from https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issu ... ?id=304017]
There is a re-package work around if you have to, are bored, run out of cold beer or life's just too long
Depends: lib32gcc1 (>=1:4.1.1) but it is not installable
Depends: lib32stdc++6 (>=4.6) but it is not installable
Depends: libc6-i386 (>=2.11) but it is not installable
Patience is needed till Google-Chrome devs spit out another corrected update.kmathern wrote:You're using the 64bit package which seems to have installed okay for you.namida12 wrote:Just got a new update to Google Stable: Version 30.0.1599.101

Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.

Re: M12 11.9.92
Running the 64 bit and for what ever reason, I have intermittent sound. I watching a video on CBT Nuggets right now and everything is working fine and just finished listening to an mp3 with VLC, but it won't work with Juk. The next time I seem to boot up, there is absolutely no sound at all but the video works.
Just wondering if anyone else having anything similar, or is my sound card going. It is a Dell 1525 Inspiron laptop.
