This all sounds like its running through the graphics REALLY fast. Yes, please post your QSI, I suspect your on a fast machine?
...
Off the top of my head: Thinkpad E520 (from 2011ish?), i5 CPU, 4GB RAM, integrated intel graphics. (AMD graphic card is disabled in bios).

Even though mxfb runs perfectly smoothly, I would be very surprised if you considered this a fast machine.

Proper QSI later

@CharlesV
plymouth may have a framerate option. It probably exists.
If you don't specify a framerate, the result should be machine speed dependent.

Original framerate is 30fps.

It's a good the animation in the latest version is smooth and fast, its not problem.
The problem is that the framerate is not properly specified.

fps=frames per seconds
30fps=30frames per 1second

If you specify a framerate, the animation
be the same speed regardless of machine performance.
(I also don't see the shutdown animation.)

I seek only essence, serve for MX.

Is this the same version that appeared as an update in MX 21 recently?
For me it works fine on MX 23 in virtualbox but the MX 21 version on real hardware doesn't. I think it is because my monitor blanks out while changing modes and doesn't come back on until after the animation is finished.

Re: MX Boot Animation at testing

#155 Post by siamhie »

I no longer see the animated boot logo at startup. I was able to see it during alpha testing and beta 1 testing but sometime during beta 2 testing, it stop working. (MX-23 fluxbox beta 2)

I ran KDiskMark on my nvme drive.

Thanks for the feed back guys, I will jump on this tomorrow.

@Freja I have not seen anything like a frame rate for pymouth, but I will check again.

Pretty sure my optimizing in two areas is what did it, it really kicked the speed up and I think as too fast on some the display's and on some machines I just flat by passed the mark. Will sort it out.

Thanks. Sorry it got weird. I saw it speedy on test machines, but ... will sort it out :-)

It may not be a framerate setting,
but there exists option for constant speed setting, probably.

Yeah, one would assume :-) ... The way it *really* works .. is using the callback messages and then doing some nice math to figure out how "smooth" you can make it, based upon the callbacks ;-p ... so since the first set I did was causing issues with your mac, I did some reworking on the the math and callback code and speeded it up. THAT in combination with the 60% graphics, which I also optimized... was too much. I should have done one OR the other, however the test with your machine seemed to work, and my machines well .. ( just... not on others :-) .. and it *is* going b REALLY fast on mine as well.

so... I shall adjust the math first, and see what I can come up with . The 'framerate' is really more like "how many graphics can I show in 1 second' ;-p
