In FF 63.0 there is no possibility to disable browser autoupdate in settings or about:config.

One way is by using addon "Enterprise Policy Generator" to "DisableAppUpdate-Policy".
It generates policies.json.

I don't like a lot of addons, so disabled update by hand.

Create policies.json -> .mozilla/firefox/yourprofile.default/distribution/

fill in:
{
"policies": {
"DisableAppUpdate": true
}
}

worked perfect in 63.0

Just see in synaptic FF update to 63.01 is present, maybe this workaround is now useless ...

or use "manually" policy generator for lot of other parameters,
templates see: https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/

Hi guys,

Is there a way to get totally rid of MX website start page in MX Firefox releases ? Sorry, I do not want to be rude. It's only my opinion, but I think it would be better to add a simple default MX website bookmark in MX Firefox settings.

Thanks.

Yes, just drag any url you like onto the home-icon in firefox to set your own start-page.

Hi Fehlix,

Thanks for answering. But I can't help thinking Firefox default settings should not be altered in any way. Some users enjoy using Firefox default home/start page.

Just linking to MX website with a bookmark is less intrusive/invasive in my opinion.

That was the goal of my suggestion. Maybe I'm too maniac... ;)

Hmm.. on the other side I can't think of any distro not setting somehow the default startpage distro specific.
The bookmarks are already available for MX Linux, MX Foum, antiX and antiX Forum, visible in the bookmark toolbar, if enabled.
I might miss something, but I can't see your point.

Of course, I also have in mind some distros providing little Firefox tweaks. But in most of cases only bookmarks or website directing at first boot.

God knows I bless MX Linux every day.

On first initiation I am for showing the Community Website. The initial opening with the Community Website gives excellent information on MX and a new user would benefit from it. The home page is so easily changed for future openings in FF.

firefox_64.0 is up and ready for download from main.

Check out the release notes page for what's new.

mozilla is still working on the release notes page.

Until it's completed the 64.0beta page has some info
