You're a user that I'd like to test to see how Intel hardware decoding va-api acceleration is working in VLC 3.0.5 from the test repo, too. I'll start a thread about setting that up and testing that.

Not to whine, but I am not fond of the "quiet" boot up setting, or the default grub boot settings that hide the boot logging information from plain view. That's a move to being too much like MS Windows. Let me see the boot logging information by default. For those who disagree, it's good medicine.

Esc key toggles view, and splash can be disabled in MX Boot Options

Jerry3904, how would an ordinary user know that? Anyway, if it wasn't for the default "quiet" default boot on the ISO, I wouldn't have anything to complain about. :-) I've been a die hard (still am) Gentoo user for 15 years and MX is rocking my boat. (That's a high compliment.)

You might want to take a look at our sister distro antiX. It's more cli oriented. It's got the console decoration that I think may have originated in Gentoo. AntiX is still Debian based but it's been influenced by Gentoo. If you want a fast booting rescue live-usb that is easy to customize then check it out. On fast hardware it can get to the Bash console in less than 5 seconds. Use the "fdb+" option. It can do a frugal install and boot to the installed system in less than 30 seconds, again given fast hardware. TBH I do most of my MX/antiX development work on Gentoo.
