Do not quite understand. What means "could neither edit or quote it safely". Can you give some details.

I tried using the "CTL+" option to increase the text size for easier viewing at 1280x800 (my laptops native resolution) and I get a spurious horizontal line in some of the post and it doesn't appear in the same place every time. It looks like something is not resizing with the increase in text size. This is not a fully researched observation, but if I do just one "CTL+" it appears in the near the top of the second post of a thread. If I do more than one it moves farther down to a different post in the thread and to a different location in the post. Also if I play with the re-sizing of text above or below the set level I also noticed some light gray lines appear. I think the best place to observe this is on the Board Index page.

EDIT: If I set the browser to zoom text only it does not seem to occur,

Sounds like a lot of people (including me) need better glasses or stop touching the crtl++ I've only seen on one of my desktops at 1280x1024.

Congratulations on getting the forum up and running.

However, going back to the first page of this thread.

Is there any plan for the latest post header to be shown on the index page of each section
...You can click on one of the | View active topics | View unread posts | View new posts |
.....You have a section with the 5 latest posts at the bottom of the index page, it's very small.

Come on people, this is a very clunky solution, the small window only shows a couple of entries and the View New Posts is all embracing and runs to 5 pages of maybe/maybe-not relevent to viewer content

Perhaps replace the long line of moderators, good for their ego's I suspect, with something usefull.

Those mods have spent countless hours over the last 4-5 years keeping the old boards free of spammers and making sure everyone's time here is enjoyable. They do it for nothing. They don't even ask for your gratitude. What they deserve though is at least some measure of respect. I'll stop now before I post something I'll regret ....

The long line most likely isn't even removable. They appear as mods are assigned to a forum section.

At least that is what I think he means and the line is what happens when I add a mod to a forum that is running an ancient version of phpbb. They get auto-added.

Not being caustic at all, just making an observation. You do get my appreciation for all the help that is provided.

Maybe as suggested, a change is not possible/practicable, so be it. Or perhaps something like the linux mint forum which also uses phpbb.

Regarding the horizontal lines, there may be a workaround explained here.

Moderators are visible, not to blow their own horns. They are visible so users know the people to go to to do moderation. Since their status online is visible as well, quicker action can be taken. That action has nothing to do with board features, but moderating posts and threads only.

Sorry you are not happy with my responses to users comments, and do not find them useful. To expect that a major software change for the board would result in it looking exactly like the old one is obviously not possible. The comments section was set up to garner comments both good and bad, so that we could accommodate changes, and help users with functions they are unfamiliar with. All suggestions will not be implemented. Those features that are popular will be worked on. But none of it will happen overnight.

It's not a big deal as far as I’m concerned and I do understand that we've been through major software and hardware changes recently, a few times . Which brings us back to the more recent conversations, concerning site modules, mambots … where to place them and sometimes, when to even use them.

That being said, I have noticed an undue amount of colored text strings, 'naming some of my favorite people.' As the site grows this list will only become larger, which is as it should be. So, maybe a couple of time on the front page as well as being included in all the sub forums and at the, 'bottom' of every page would be sufficient.

[minor rant] My personal feelings are that we have to many sections, I felt that we didn't need a new section for each New version of KDE that comes down the pipes. As it stands, it takes me something like twelve full mouse scrolls with my little hp ps2 optical. I find that distracting, especially if the new posts module, which I truly enjoy, has to remain at the bottom. [/minor rant]

ps as we become more familiar with the new software, and as the versions proceed, we're almost certain to attain newer functions ... ... heck, already see things that are better imo.
