Thanks @dolphin_oracle :
I really like the logout sound, so thanks for looking into it.
Please point me in the right direction, if I can help with this!
@dolphin_oracle :
Just remembered:
I think MX-23 Alpha2 (Xfce, x64) has the logout sound.
I'll double-check.
Don't know if that helps you.
Let me know if I can help in any way!
the root problem is that Xfce does not actually support the login/logout event sounds. So we work around it.
so the way the original setup worked, the logout sound was played by an "autostart" file that is triggered by logout/reboot/shutdown. The problem as I see it is that with pipewire its very likely teh sound server will be shutdown before the logout sound is played. during alpha we had reports that the logout sound never played despite being configured.
So I removed the feature because I would rather not have it than have it broken.
Ahhh...Too Bad
I really liked that nice "Borealis" sound letting me know that it's time for Biological Halt. Like Being Tucked-In!

@dolphin_oracle In the meantime I'm using a quick and dirty fix. I'm manually starting wireplumber at boot for now in my startup file. Sound works again.
Code: Select all
#start pipewire before volumeicon so unmute works
wireplumber &
pipewire-start
sleep 2
volumeicon -c volumeicon-fluxbox &

...Changing mouse cursors. I installed the oxygen cursor set but couldn't change the cursors from Appearance>Theme and Customize Look and Feel is missing from All Apps>Settings.
I changed it from the terminal but the mouse cursor changes back to DMX-Black when using my browser.
Did you try manually editing these entries in
~/gtkrc-2.0
Code: Select all
gtk-cursor-theme-name="DMZ-Black"
gtk-cursor-theme-size=0
and
~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini ?
Code: Select all
gtk-cursor-theme-name=DMZ-Black
gtk-cursor-theme-size=0
@Melber All I have in the gtk-2.0 directory is this
Code: Select all
siamhie@mxflux23:~/.config/gtk-2.0
$ ls -a
. .. gtkfilechooser.ini
...
@siamhie gtkrc-2.0 is a file that lives in the home directory.
Has pretty much the same content as ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini, except that the theme names are quoted

@dolphin_oracle pipewire shows at the bottom. Is that what you were referring to?

I'm still fooling around from time to time with that autohide dock problem, which annoys me. I used dockmaker to match the background and border to the color of the sand on the bottom of the screen. There is still a blue line around the dock itself:
quickshot_230530_151630.png
@Melber is that from you? If yes, I wonder if that might be causing these sporadic problems.
