Would be nice to have it as the rolling version, if those are the words, to be able to have the newest version available much like the beta set up. If one doesn't want to upgrade, don't. But I've been running the on update channel with no problems so far. Some are on version 25.

Just my thoughts.

The version that Firefox has on their site can be set to auto-update, or inform, or not. Your choice. Look for kmathern's Firefox script. I put stuff like that on a USB FlashDrive/MemoryKey for portability.

I'm doing this already. Would like to see Mepis 12 ship with it.

It looks like Warren has done some work recently on M12:

ftp://ftp.mepis.com/mepis/dists/
              • &
ftp://ftp.mepis.com/mepis/dists/mepis-12.0/main/
(note that they're timestamped with today's date)

It's kind of hard to tell what's been changed, but it does look like the LibreOffice 1:4.0.3-2~bpo70+1 packages have been removed from the M12 repo. I don't know if that's a permanent change, or if he did that in preparation for uploading a newer version of LibreOffice. The wheezy-backports repo has the 1:4.1.0-5~bpo70+3 version of LibreOffice, so I don't I really see a reason to build a M12 version.

mepis-install is at .94 and mepis-system is at .96 also. So there is work going on. Plus I note that grub-efi is there.

Interesting. I wonder if the old goat has been working on UEFI compatibility all this time...

Likely. Getting the system to boot simply and easily has been a priority for Warren.

Those aren't new:
ftp://ftp.mepis.com/mepis/pool/main/m/mepis-install/ (mepis-install_11.9.94 = 07/26/2013)
ftp://ftp.mepis.com/mepis/pool/main/m/mepis-system/(mepis-system_11.9.96 = 05/05/2013)
ftp://ftp.mepis.com/mepis/pool/main/g/grub2/ (grub-efi_2.00-7 = 12/22/2012)

Just discovered Kinfocenter is showing 16 hard drives that are not present in addition to the 1 that is present. Also having system lockups when viewing video... requires a hard kill & reboot to unlock. :tumbleweed:

The multiple ghost drives are a known problem with recent kernels; I still see it occurring with a homebuilt 3.11 version.

I noticed that the new mepis-config enables wheezy-backports by default, which means the new libreoffice there is now "kosher". I suppose that also means it's OK for packages in the community repo to build upon those updated versions, too, rather then port them over to the CR (like I just did for gettext yesterday [/grumble].
