We are not good guessing what your language and what a foreign language for you might be.

Something else.

After entering the encryption password, text relating to that is displayed top-left of the screen. It's trivial, but something that slightly detracts from having Plymouth.

yep, its a "feature" of plymouth that certain kinds of messages bleed through the splash image, including the successful cryptsetup messages.

seems that within the package dependency of qupzilla at least two libs are missing:
please install these two missing qml-modules:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install qml-module-qtwebengine  qml-module-qtquick2
It still crashes with those libs installed.

Launching from a terminal reveals there is a crash log. Here is the text in case it helps:

<< Post by CaputAlista » Tue Dec 04, 2018 5:14 pm Hi all. I boot from a usb. In this version sometimes (as it acts with ubuntu) in the first boot it consumes a lot of cpu and the ram is highly occupied and it is increasing the normal is 400 MB), with the option no acpi is regulated but the wifi does not work. In this version and the previous one sometimes the realtek sound (I have an hpx360) works and sometimes not. The mouse menu to change owner a folder or file is lost.>>

So, the Ryzen stability test has failed.

This morning I came down to the machine, and it had rebooted spontaneously over night at idle.
This is the same Issue I had last year, a kernel bug that needs a parameter passed at boot to the kernel. I was hoping by 4.19 this would have been fixed.

I rebooted back to the beta for another idle test today while I am at work.
But I think I must add the line to grub.

Code: Select all

rcu_nocbs=0-11
Now, where do I find the grub customizer in the new beta?
I could not find it last night.

I am sure there is another way to pass this command, but the customizer was easy.

Grub-customizer was removed as it caused issues for users, You can install it from the repos. I did as I agree it has an easy way to add grub parameters. If you use a persist Live usb it will stay through reboots.

you can install it from synaptic.

or just add your parameter to this area of /etc/default/grub

Code: Select all

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet"
so that it looks like this

Code: Select all

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet rcu_nocbs=0-11"

and then run

[code]
sudo update-grub
for the change to take effect.

BTW new this go around is if you add the parameter to your live boot, it should carry over to an installed system.

Thanks to both Richb and the d_o.
I will use one of those tonight. Curious, what issues were caused by the grub customizer? It always worked well for me.

And second on the agenda is nvidia. My card is running about 7 degrees hotter with the noveau driver. In a different thread I see d_o posted to
add this to the repo list and update. (Can I add this through synaptic or the MX repo manager also?

Code: Select all

deb http://mxrepo.com/mx/testrepo/  mx18  dev
Those running the current MX Beta 1 can also enable the devrepo to enable installation nvidia drivers via the nvidia-driver tool.
So, projected status, If I add the boot parameter, and successfully add the nvidia driver, I think I am very happy with the beta. Great work to all the developers !
