I often find those kinds of themes (also the Steampunk ones) often are lacking so many Icons for current apps and mimetypes that they are kind of unusable because if your fallback is Papirus or Breeze the mismatched look is pretty hideous.. Of course all just opinion.. Have you found anything that does a reasonable job as as fallback with those?

@AVLinux I looked at the total count of 32x32 icons in LTF and it is just over 3600 files compared to the Papirus count of 8300 files. It seems there are a ton of sym linked icons in Papirus tho.

What I was not expecting to see in this icon set were these MX specific icons. :number1:

Looks like I spoke too soon... :footinmouth: Seems like these are pretty well maintained then. It appears they might make a good companion to the Enlightenment classic Dark theme, thanks for the heads up!

Some developers are nice enough to put some of their building blocks in their themes, as an example I have probably created about 30 specialty Evolvere2 Icons because from the github sources you get all of the source SVG's to work from so it is pretty easy to fake up some missing ones. I'll take a closer look at these as an alternate..

Take a look at this icon set for E.

This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

For good looking retro/old-fashioned GTK-themes I would strongly recommend this guy: https://www.xfce-look.org/u/nestort
When it comes to the iconset I like the Obsidian-iconset from MXPI, because it has a wide color-palette and it looks as good together with retro as with modern gkt-themes.

The problem is, I still cannot find a proper gtk3-theme for my old fashioned aqua-brushed-metal desktop theme for my old Macbook. There are tons of good looking aqua-gtk2-themes but without working gtk3 version. I'm looking for a light theme with a similar palette to Greybird, or even a bit darker, with aqua-style buttons and the characteristic "traffic-light" minimize/maximize/close. Something that is grey like this one https://www.xfce-look.org/p/1929393 but with a buttons similar to this dark theme: https://www.xfce-look.org/p/1720387. Or maybe I will try to mix both somehow?

If anyone wants to try it out now, you just need to save the following config under
~/.config/MX-Linux/exit-options/adwaita_exit-options.conf
and then select the theme with exit-options-manager (right click on logout icon in panel to open manager)

...
This did not work for me. File is named and located correctly, but is not being picked up in exit-options even with a log out/in. Has anyone else tried it?

@Jerry3904
Should be no need to log out/in, app looks for .conf files in $HOME/.config/MX-Linux/exit-options/ on each start, so simply launching manager should be enough.

Are you sure you created a new "exit-options" folder in .config/MX-Linux? User .conf files need to go in there. Just checked on a new user and it worked for me.

Did not create a new folder, missed that step completely.

They look nice, though not on a dark background.. Did you make a PR?

Done, made PR to your fork. I adjusted the paths to /usr/share/exit-options/adwaita and made copies of the adwaita icons to be installed there so that config will still work if a user uninstalls the adwaita icon theme.

Thanks kobaian I appreciate it!

Actually I just downloaded his updated E17-GTK-revolved theme from somewhere else a couple of weeks ago but I'm grateful for your link because there are lots of interesting goodies there!

Brushed Metal attacks again! Rumor has it that they are already building fortifications on the Australian flatland. ;)

I have combined the good old Brushed Metal gtk2-theme (on the left) together with the slightly modified ClassicLooks Greybird gtk3-theme (on the right). Not perfect yet, but looks ok for my old Macbook.
