Probably the rights on this forum. I think to see the "Solved" check you need either to create the thread or to have moderation rights on the specific forum.

But (as I see) once you mark it as solved, no way to take it back ? :)

I just checked every other Language forum and it is enabled for all of them from Spanish to Chinese and those labeled Other Languages. If it is not being used people are not reading the Announcements or do not understand them because they are in English. If someone wants to translate the instructions to all the other languages and post in them you can.

As you may have already noticed, there's a new option in the forum:

A new check-mark icon appears on posts "if you are the starter of the topic" to mark the thread as "solved". And you can click any of the check-mark icons (especially on one of them that was useful for the solution according to you, or just the one at post #1 , your own post..).

By the way: Please mark the thread when you think it's solved , that will help other people when searching.

There's also another option : when you begin typing the username of a forum member with @ a tiny list will appear and you can select that , he/she will be notified as " you were mentioned in this thread by xxx ".

At one other forum besides here I've noticed it, first appeared after an upgrade a week or two ago, shows a little number 8 preceding the text of the 'mark forums read' and 'mark site read' buttons. Also shows other numbers on a couple of buttons, 7, 12 etc., those buttons have various functions, expanding/condensing previews that sort of thing.

Try the usual things when having issues with certain websites: clear your browser's cache, delete your cookies, disable all add-ons and extensions, and create a new browser profile to test with if those don't help. I was testing one Firefox extension once, something to do with zooming, and it was causing me problems on the forum even when it was disabled. I had to uninstall it.

Only thing that worked is creating a new profile in FF ESR.
I thought it might have been a minor forum bug or something so mentioned it.
Another one I noticed was the magnifying glass search icon, it showed as 88 anywhere there's a search box.

Maybe there's a line in the script that requires both sides to be online .. Only then ..

(But again, I take all others' mentions no matter they're offline / online at the moment.. This may be just for Guides ..)

There is an option in a users control panel on Notifications. In Board Preferences>Edit Notification Options>Someone Mentioned Me has an option to enable/disable the mention system by the user. I do not know if the extension we added ignores that setting and always notifies regardless of how it is set.

Ran a test and verified that mentions must be enabled in the Users Control Panel. It may be enabled by default but if a user disables it they will not get a mention. @Huckleberry Finn That may not be the issue in your case with JayM. But just another complications for mentions.

Ok. I just thought it was affecting only mentioning within Guides (as a group etc.), cause Tony also didn't get a notification from me.

So, when 2 of us are online at the same time we'll try and see if that changes anything..

I did the test with Eadwine who disabled it and did not get the notification, But apparently the default is to have it enabled so that will not affect users unless they actively disable it.
Thank for testing the online track. All information will help to track it down.

Edit: Meanwhile: At first I was taking notification when I mentioned myself, but not now. That may be normal if it was something "fixed" later. Otherwise it would be another evidence: there may be something just "within this (guides) group" ..

Ah yes, if that was from me: I mentioned you above, when we were online at the same time, then saw you got offline and deleted.

So, if it's done when both sides are online, it works (even when immediately deleted).

I suspect if you aren't receiving notifications (if that's the issue you're having, I'm too lazy to read pages of earlier posts at the moment) it's because people are selecting the wrong user name. I "mentioned" every user in the system beginning with "huck".

Delete your browser cache, cookies, etc. If all else fails create a new browser profile, or install a different browser (Falkon's my favorite) for using with the forum. I had to do the latter so Weather Underground would work as it stopped loading in Firefox a few months ago, probably something with my profile but I couldn't be arsed to try to save and import all my bookmarks into a new profile.

Also, again: This is just for this group: MX Guides .. All others are ok .. (no matter online / offline or you mentioned / you were mentioned )

... and this time it's not "permissions" because when both sides are online, it's ok ..

Edit: Yes, same on live-session (MX 19.3 Jan. Snapshot, Firefox)

... and one more evidence: Red notificaton sign doesn't appear also when "quoted" by "MX Guides" only , even I receive (manually open the list and see) them. No problems when quoted by other members ...

Result :

1- Red Sign does not appear when there are notifications from "MX Guides" only (neither when "quoted" nor "mentioned").

2- When "quoted" by MX Guides I can see them when I open the list.

3- When mentioned by MX Guides (or when I mention them) the "mentioned" is notified when only both sides were online. Even that happens without the red notification sign (as in 1 )

4- No issues with all other groups : devs, admins, users ... (no matter online / offline or you mentioned / you were mentioned or quoted)

User Permissions are identical. In any case the User permissions are superseded by the Group Permissions. That is the preferred method.

I have no ideas unless Huck has a browser extension or a settings change that's interfering with his ability to be alerted to notifications. Or maybe he's changed his notification settings for the board in his user CP, or for some reason the new one on the bottom didn't get automatically checked in his profile when mentions was added.

Just as a feedback:

Last 1-2 days all are ok . (again, though I touched to nothing)..

Getting "mentioned" and "quoted" notifications from all with the red sign .. (as it should be). And again, also have been trying with different browsers and also on Windows.. Shortly, last 2 days everything's ok.
