I'm sure that it won't be a mad forest of features soon.-)CharlesV wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 9:04 pm Excellent! Glad to hear that. I have found KDenlive to be THE video editor for me.. Lots of VERY cool features!
A frontend for ffmpeg. I'm installing MystiQ now. Oh boy. Yet another app to learn at a shallow level. The file in Kdenlive says it's h.264. It looks like I used h.264 for the first conversion in VLC. Now I'm running one with 265 to see the difference.Stevo wrote: Fri Jun 20, 2025 10:29 am MystiQ works pretty well to shrink video files for me, especially with one of the h.265 presets. Maybe you already used h.265 in VLC, though. I think with MX 25, its AV1 preset will be working with a newer ffmpeg, and that'll be even smaller.
I've seen that option. I think I'll give it a try. That was in VLC, I think. Okay, YouTube HD makes it over three times a big again. VLC YouTube SD changes the aspect ratio and increases the size by 50%. I'll try the Kdenlive web choices. Webm VP8, it says. Slow. I don't see a choice labeled YouTube. It gets enormous. Now to try MystQ, which looks really simple. Converting for Optimized for YouTube. It's quick and pretty close in size. I think I'll use MystQ in place of VLC for the conversion.CharlesV wrote: Fri Jun 20, 2025 11:39 am Trying to compress mp4's is where I find trouble starts for me. I usually try one of the KDenlive render choices for youtube or another web selection... but compression = loss at some point.
