Cannot log in to system - main window

Hi,
I turn on laptop and decrypt drive,
In the login window panel i provide password, password is accepted, log in, and screen turns black as changing to operating system, but instead i am back in login window panel. Repetitevely.
Im locked out of the system, and dont have other account
In the top right corner, options "suspend/hibernate/restartu/shutdown" are greyed out and not accessible.
With ctrl+alt+f1 i was able to get to terminal.
Never had this issue before.
Mx, Xfce, new distribution (2-3 months old).
Thanks

Did you add any 3rd party repos or install any 3rd party deb files?
Also, as Eadwine will say, please provide QSI for your system. Use QSI from booting a live USB to get the hardware specs.
I'm also wondering whether, if you use chroot rescue scan on the Live USB, you can access your actual system and provide more details of the installed system.

"Agou grub" is not a recognized term. It likely refers to a misspelling of "GNU GRUB,"

ChatGPT developed a script bellow that I ran in the MX_Live/chroot environment, but it didn't resolve the issue.
Code: Select all
#!/bin/bash
set -e
echo "[1/7] Cleaning XFCE session cache and auth files..."
rm -rf /home/*/.cache/sessions/ 2>/dev/null || true
rm -f /home/*/.Xauthority 2>/dev/null || true
echo "[2/7] Updating package list..."
apt update
echo "[3/7] Reinstalling display stack (XFCE, LightDM, Xorg)..."
apt install --reinstall \
xfce4 \
xfce4-session \
xfce4-goodies \
lightdm \
lightdm-gtk-greeter \
xorg \
dbus-x11 \
--yes
echo "[4/7] Backing up and rewriting LightDM config..."
# Backup if config exists
if [ -f /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf ]; then
cp /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.bak
fi
# Recreate minimal working config
tee /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf > /dev/null <<EOF
[Seat:*]
user-session=xfce
greeter-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter
EOF
echo "[5/7] Reconfiguring LightDM..."
dpkg-reconfigure lightdm
echo "[6/7] Updating initramfs..."
update-initramfs -u
echo "[7/7] Updating GRUB bootloader..."
update-grub
echo "All tasks completed inside chroot. You may now type 'exit' and reboot from host system."

Code: Select all
sudo apt update

sudo apt autoremove --yes
sudo apt clean
sudo apt install xfce4 xfce4-goodies --yes
How can i set up now the defauclt xfce display?
