Once upon a time CharlesV gave me the advice to make a document where I wrote down all the details I changed in my configuration.
At first I laughed a bit about it (did the good guy think I was senile) but it really is a super good advice.
Maybe it is easy to remember if it is just about keeping Thunar or choosing another FM and if you only have one computer but there can be details it is easy to forget and sad to miss maybe especially in a snapshot.
For instance Thunar, how do you configure it.?
I use it for daily backup so I want it to show hidden files and folders.
All those big icons are not good for the overview so I choose it to show list.
And single click in Thunar scares the guts out of me, so I configure it to double click.
I also change the coulombs a bit.
I don't know if that is what you need to make it wonderful for you. It is just an example of how the configuration can make a big difference to some, and to indicate that a shallow look at some different FM's can be very good but it might not always supply you with all the important info you hoped for.
I wish you a good time with your study and more exiting "hikes". :-)
