Nordvpn Linux gui

In my surfing I found out that Nordvpn has built a gui for all those Linux challenged refugees. Has anyone tried it?
Will it work out of the box or does it need special tweaking for our flavour of Linux?
They finally updated site to include documentation for Linux users, not just those that used the terminal.

No. I'm satisfied with opening a terminal and typing "nordvpn connect" to connect and "nordvpn disconnect" to disconnect from nord's servers.
I even use my bash history to recall the commands quicker.

I respect that. I was mainly looking for feedback on the new & improved offering. I had in mind my tech challenged relatives. I had seen the whiners online who had come over from Windows & had no literacy in Linux at all. All the other big Vpn companies have apparently made gui's for their linux versions already. This was just Nordvpn playing catch up.

I do remember coming across a python GUI on github a couple of years ago but never did try it.
This would be good for those who want to connect to a specific country for their own needs.

I've had Nordvpn updates be a pain, having even the System Tray cause some problems when when it was first introduced (now set to 0). ... So I haven't tried their GUI. The CLI is easy, as Siamhie says. And one better c or d for connect or disconnect. ... BUT, they might have their bugs worked out.
For me, the few commands used are, nordvpn c (city); norvpn status; nordvpn settings; nordvpn set (setting) 1 or 0 or TCP etc. ... Sometimes help and man, of course. (They keep piling stuff into the app.)

I didn't know about the GUI, so thanks for the heads up. I'm completely happy with the CLI, but I will check out the GUI when I have time.
Currently, because I'm testing some distro isos in Virtualbox, I found that enabling nordvpn wholesale on my host machine cut off the internet connection from my VM. So I've been using the FF browser extension in my host machine instead instead of CLI.
[ADDED] the GUI package is found in MXPI so I just installed and enabled it.
Since the latest bot attacks on the forum, Cloudflare has been blocking access to the forum from my location so I know that at the very least, this GUI works to enable the vpn with a spoofed location. On the other hand, I use Nordvpn at a basic level where CLI commands are just as convenient.

I get it. I use terminal when I need to access direct tweaking, otherwise I have mine setup via a router.
My interest in a gui is mainly for a tech challenged relative that hasn't completed the learning curve for Mx Linux. There are a couple of widgets as well to make doing musical locations a bit easier & know when your vpn is off/on.

You can create Desktop Launchers that act as sort of a GUI. I have mine set up that way. They're not hard to make. I probably should've included that in my NordVPN Help Files I posted in the General Chat section of this forum. I'll work on adding those when I get the chance. Say you want to quick connect to the fastest server, or connect to DoubleVPN or OnionOverVPN, change protocols, disconnect, enable ThreatProtectionLite or PostQuantumEncryption, etc. Well you can make Desktop Launchers to do all of that. I just put all of the launchers into a folder so there's not so many on my desktop screen area. I have the folder stored in my /home directory just because I don't like clutter on my desktop screen area. After you've made the desktop launchers, all you have to do is click on them and they'll execute the commands which are normally run manually by the user in the terminal. Only thing is, you have to make separate launchers for connecting and disconnecting or enabling and disabling features. Would something like that be of interest to you? I don't see a standard GUI for NordVPN on any of my machines unless you mean the little icon at the bottom right of panel (mine's horizontal) that just let's you quick connect and disconnect. Here's my original post to the help files I made.

If the nordvpn repo is enabled, you'll see a new package called nordvpn-gui that can now be installed. Just open mxpi or synaptic and do a search.

Oh ok well I guess I kind of figured that it would be included with the standard nordvpn updates. I do have the repo enabled but haven't received any update that included the gui.
I'll check now thanks!

Wish I had checked back with this thread sooner. I went and followed the directions from Nord's web site and installed the GUI that way.

I must say, that's actually nice. The GUI picked up my settings and login credentials. Clicking on Quick connect will connect me to the Seattle server just like the CLI does.
I can also connect to either the P2P or Double VPN server from the Specialty servers tab. I would definitely recommend this to new users of NordVPN.

It's OK on my PC monitor, but on my lappy's hi-res screen, the text in the gui is TINY, in the midst of a fairly large fixed size gui window.
Changing xfce font and dpi settings do nothing to the gui font size while the rest of my system gets larger fonts.
Dconf-editor font settings also don't help from what I can see.

Hi ,
I wasn't happy with the earlier tray-app. And wanted an easier way to connect, and change settings. So I wrote my own GUI.
https://github.com/JayDevDo/NordVPN-TKGUI
A bit clunky, old fashioned deffo! But it does the trick. Needs python-pubsub and tk8.*
Happy to receive feedback on it.
Currently working on tab nr4 that displays meshnet and other linked devices.
