We are going to need your computer’s complete profile before we can proceed, so you need to post the output from the QSI utility. The Quick System Info (QSI) utility is located in MX Tools and its output is automatically formatted for use here in the forum. Run the QSI utility, click “Copy for Forum” at the bottom and then just paste it here in your thread.

Before I retired from healthcare, I had Citrix Reciver for Linux OS installed on my PC so that I can log into work the night brfore to see what my workload would be for the next day. Here is the link for Citrix for Linux OS. Since MX Linux is Debian based, you would nedd to dowload it ( .deb ) file from the website. Then right click on the downloaded file and install via Deb installer. It will handle the dependencies. It worked like a charm for me.

@txm0523 I installed that very component approx 2 weeks ago on an MX Computer and had to boot into systemd to do the install.

But without your QSI we have no way of knowing if your already running systemd or what else might be different with your system.

@CharlesV I looked into it a little further. I downloaded the .deb file and tried to install the latest icaclient. It flagged me with an error that it could not install without SystemD. They must have changed the requirement. I initally installed the icaclient about 5-6 years ago. I haven't used Citirx Receiver for Linux OS since 2021, because I retired and didn't need it. Just when you had a good thing, they go and mess it up.

@CharlesV I had AI assist on answering this question " what init system is required for Citrix Workspace on linux OS "

AI Answer: Citrix Workspace app for Linux requires a system with a compatible init system, typically using systemd, which is standard in most modern Linux distributions. Ensure your Linux distribution supports systemd for optimal functionality.

Have you tried booting into systemd? You can do so at the boot menu. Just choose "advanced options" and then in the next menu/list of entries, choose the entry that has "systemd" in brackets at the end of the description.

@txm0523 As asqwerth said, boot into systemd and do the install. Then, boot back into sysvinit and as I recall it worked fine with nothing else to do.

@CharlesV I booted into Systemd, installed Citrix Workspace, logged out, logged back into my regular MX Linux with SysV init. Citrix Workspace loads up and it wants me to log into a server, but I don't have a server to log into anymore, since I am retired. Looks to me that booting into Systemd, installing Citrix Workspace, logging out and then logging back into SysV init works, but as I said, I have nothing to log into anymore. I hope this gives you some vital info.
