Two changes to apps from @siamhie:

--center xfce4-terminal using the apps file

--delete entries for apps no longer used

Code: Select all

[app] (name=lxappearance)
  [Position]	(UPPERLEFT)	{33% 28%}
  [Close]	{yes}
[end]

[app] (name=gthumb)
  [Dimensions]	{70% 75%}
  [Position]	(UPPERLEFT)	{13% 13%}
  [Close]	{no}
[end]

I'm still using that one !!
but yeah sure, please do delete its entry from mxfb25 default apps file :happy:

Yeah, this just goes into the skel file to set up all new users.

It will be added again if you reinstall lxappearance and use it once.

Problem with centering xfce4-terminal using the apps file: it overrides the dropdown function for F4. That has been part of MX since the beginning and I'm unwilling to get rid of it by default. User always has the option, of course

The issue I have is that the xfce4-terminal (my preferred terminal) always starts at the bottom left corner even when I select Remember dimensions, position and save on close.
I end up with multiple entries for the program in the apps file.

Code: Select all

[app] (name=xfce4-terminal) (class=Xfce4-terminal) (role=xfce4-terminal-1737904726-430635184)
  [Position]	(CENTER)	{0 0}
[end]
[app] (name=xfce4-terminal) (class=Xfce4-terminal) (role=xfce4-terminal-1737904931-2935029293)
  [Position]	(UPPERLEFT)	{35% 12%}
  [Close]	{yes}
[end]
[app] (name=xfce4-terminal) (class=Xfce4-terminal) (role=xfce4-terminal-1737905003-693011580)
  [Dimensions]	{37% 44%}
  [Position]	(UPPERLEFT)	{35% 10%}
  [Close]	{yes}
[end]
Getting rid of the role= fixes the problem for me but moves your drop down terminal keybinding (which I've never used) to a new location.

You can keep it the way it is and I will just edit my apps file accordingly.

Turning to the desktop files, where I have these on my list to do:
1) new desktop file for mxfb-appfinder
2) new desktop file for Custom Toolbox inclusion of MX Tweak without that name
3) correction of ShowOnlyIn (can't find that list ATM)
-----------------
2) here is a first draft for an Toolbox entry called "MX Fluxbox Tweaks" that we discussed, using as much as possible from the existing mx-tweak one. It's quite full of guesswork...for instance, do we want to adapt the existing icon for this use?

I tested that desktop file and it shows up as "Fluxbox Tweaks" OK.

BTW: I added the category "X-MXFB-Tools" (correct?) but I don't know whether we are going to have a separate entry in all apps. If yes, then the other desktop files will need to be revised accordingly. @dolphin_oracle @Melber

that is the correct category.

If we want a separate "mxfb tools" category in the app-finder then X-MXFB-Tools needs to be added to the .desktop file of the appropriate mxfb-tools.

OK--do we? It would mean changing the all apps script.

Here is a draft of the other desktop file that we need for the appfinder config. Please check for everything except the missing translations: name, comment, icon (missing), categories, etc. If everybody is OK with the Name and Comment, then we can go ahead and fill in the translations here before opening it up in the Translation forum.

NOTE: I am not including @Melber's workspace app (b/c redundant with existing scrollwheel and root menu access) but if others feel it ought to be in then that can be changed.

I think it would be a good addition

For me, the comment "Configuration options" below the "Name=Appfinder settings" is completely sufficient and doesn't need to repeat what it's refering to. But if others feel it is necessary I'm not going to insist.

BTW: I'm also proposing we rename the script itself to follow the existing ones; it is currently simply "appfinder-settings"

Leaving it alone, no need. BTW: have converted the existing desktop files for the revised list of MXFB Tools to include DO's easy change to have them show up in their own menu entry on All apps.
