Re: $PATH
I think it's common courtesy to have a somewhat more descriptive title than "$PATH", too.
I roll my eyes back just to see if my brain is still there and working.
Yah, OK, fer sure.

MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

Re: $PATH
So what you ended up with is a mixture of competing config files, hmmm?
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;
In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

What started as a "joke" turned out to be a classic case of self-made user error!VINRARUS wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 1:58 pm I only copied the missing files from MX /home to my old /home.
Who would have thought your adjustments would be the punchline?
Just a reminder that even the best of us can trip over our own tweaks!
Maybe we should all stick to debugging instead of joking around!

Re: $PATH
Taking random files from /home on one distro and mashing them onto a new distro is a little like buying a new car, ripping out the interior and replacing all the seats, seat belts, steering wheel, shifter, and stereo with the ones from your old car, then complaining to the dealership that the handling is slushy and the radio presets are bad.

Yes, old home files not rewrited, only copied missings + .bashrcSo what you ended up with is a mixture of competing config files, hmmm?
I troud save KDE setting and other soft.
MX is my 1st Linux distributive with /usr/games in PATH (but it is ok).fehlix wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 2:33 pm What started as a "joke" turned out to be a classic case of self-made user error!

I always thought /sbin and /usr/sbin in PATH is standart, but when shell dont see /usr/sbin/*, and see /usr/games/* - for me this as for joke.

I dont complaining, I ask how stupid worked I do.then complaining to the dealership that the handling is slushy and the radio presets are bad.
shell master
