For what it's worth, I have a "hotmail.com" address that I've acquired over the years.
Currently I'm running it on a desktop machine running a current edition of Mageia and another desktop using a current and updated version of MXLinux. Both of these are running the current version of Thunderbird as supplied by Mageia/MXLinux.
During the middle part of this last year I began receiving emails from Microsoft warning that my current setup would no longer work sometime during the latter quarter of the year.
There was no clear indication of what the actual new settings were. Rather than plumb the depths of the Microsoft site I set up a new installation of Thunderbird and Thunderbird happily deduced new settings for a hotmail account.
I don't think I tried to edit the settings of the account in place, I just synchronised a new account.
This afternoon I found an older laptop running MXLinux. I updated it such that it is now running Thunderbird 128.5.0esr (64bit).
That once again deduced the Microsoft settings and is working perfectly.
The only catch was that instead of a popup window asking for confirmation of my request to connect to the Microsoft servers it was done with a "popunder" window behind Thunderbird.
The settings it found were
IMAP Server outlook.office365.com
SMTP server smtp.office365.com
IMAP Port 993
SMTP Port 587
Connection Security IMAP SSL/TLS
Connection Security SMTP STARTTLS
Authentication Method for both OAuth2
