Hey @BitterTruth--friend, it's alright to feel frustrated, and if we research a bit further we can find a reason behind why Firefox is not permitting HW acceleration on your X201.
If you look at the WEBRENDER section of the screenshot you posted, the "runtime" section indicates the error:
FEATURE_FAILURE_OPENGL_LESS_THAN_3
Thank you very much for looking into my issue. I pretty much came to the same conclusion after posting about opengl being the problem but got busy and wasn't able to post an update. It looks like you found a good solution though with MPV.

What I find strange is that I have a x230 (see below) running debian 12 and it doesn't show anything for opengl when i do glxinfo, yet firefox shows webrender instead of webrender (software), meaning it appears to be using hw acceleration without opengl!

Anyway, I was more interested in the x201, which we know now cannot support it being as old as it is.

Cheers.
LOL, I'm quite partial to old thinkpads myself and find it hard to part with them. I've got the following:

x201 x 2
x220T x 1
x230 x 4
t410 x 2
t440p x 1
t510 x 1
t520 x 1

Many thanks again and apologies for the late reply
