Problems with videos/youtube

Hello,

There is a delay in the playback of the image in the videos, the sound is ahead of the image. And sometimes it repeats the playback for a few seconds and goes backwards ...

It does not happen on the other operating systems.

Thanks for your advice,

What app are you using for playing the videos?

... with any of the browsers, no app.

Pick a web browser you use. I use LibreWolf and have no issues with playback of YT videos.
(I have recommended performance settings unchecked but do have hardware acceleration when available enabled)

I'd recommend that you check if the connection is good and stable. Any browser should get the job done. If there is no connectivity or speed issue.

Also, there is a flathub package called "FreeTube". It may help in some respect.

In two different browsers the same thing happens but this is ´only´ with MX23; it cannot be a connection issue.

Have you tried using an incognito window, and playing using that?

It's the same ... I even switch to the previous kernel:

Code: Select all

ken@ken:~
$ uname -r
6.8.10-2-liquorix-amd64
ken@ken:~
$
remains the same problem ... :needcoffee:

You can try that one, the cookies bit and signing out and such.

no google/youtube accounts, browsers (Midori-Firefox and Yandex-Chrome) set to not save cookies.

Easy test: start the liveUSB, does it happen there? If so, then you know to look elsewhere than your system.

No, it is ok with the liveUSB

If so, then you know to look elsewhere than your system.
*look somewhere other than your system* - what does that mean, what should I do?

@j2mcgreg

Comcast/xfinity -- but again, it is happening only in MX23

That means if it does the same thing on the live, there is something outside that influencing things.

As the live is fine, I'd say there is something wrong on the system itself. What is the last thing you did before it went wonky?

Post the urls for a couple of the videos where this happens so we can see if they are the problem.

Switch to the latest kernel -- but I go back to the previous kernel and now have the same problem.

The Kim Walker-Smith video played fine here. Have you tried using YouTube's own settings to make adjustments?

Please remove the second screenshot. Nothing political here, as you know.

Kim's video played fine here on 4K.

Who says you HAVE to upgrade?

If it ain't broken...

Making a snapshot or something similar will help, of course :)

I mean I should apply in the terminal:

sudo aptitude update and upgrade

Actually, I think that you should downgrade a bit. The Liquorix 6.8.9 series has proven to be problematic for some folks. I think that the 6.6.12-1 would be a better fit. If you go this route, remember to use Boot Options in MX Tools to make it the new default.

Nothing weird. You updated the kernel in post #22.

Code: Select all

In that case, you my have gotten a poorly transmitted or somehow corrupted update that messed up your system. Since you reside in the USA, as a precaution against this happening in future, you might use Repo Manager in MX Tools to switch your main repository to the one in Salt Lake City which is owned and operated by the MX team.

There is also the shear fact that not everything can always be saved perfectly. There are times when bits can get messed up because of cache, saving at the wrong time, and then 'just didnt save correctly'.

Any of these can cause big issues if they are in a config or a data file that is relied upon for your system to run properly.

This IS one of the best reasons I know of to have a method to recover your system. A good backup strategy will recover from most anything that causes a problems.
