PiranhaII Theme - a clean, crisp Blue and Grey rounded

I am always on the lookout for clean, crisp themes, especially if they have a nice blue or grey theme. (My main backgrounds are all Grey, but I dont want thing to blend in TOO much.)

When I found the original Piranha theme I loved the blue active theme and the crisp icons, but not the greenish inactive area and those icons seems murky to me.

SO.. after some work on the inactive, I have come up with what I believe to be an awesome theme - PrianhaII

Thick borders, founded corners, Blue active and Grey inactive and works well on both dark background as well as light.

Enjoy

@CharlesV
Looks pretty nice.
Wonder if it will play with KDE?

Very nice, thanks for sharing. It reminds me a bit of greybird, the Xfce theme we once used.

Thanks!

@richb I dont think it will work with KDE, but on my list of "ToDo's" is getting into the KDE workings, and I see lots of CSS there (which I like :-) ) .. so ... possibly a little later.

@Jerry3904 Indeed I like greybird. I wanted a little more difference between active and inactive - and I LOVE the blue of that Piranha! :-) Seriously jumps out - five monitors I want that active window to POP!

@CharlesV Nice work.

I am currently fiddling with making a new "MX-Comfort-ish" theme.
May eventually need some tips and or help with a few css bits and bobs...hint hint

Like most window decoration themes, it is still a bit small on a higher dpi screen (like my laptop) but that's the case with most xfwm4 themes that are not specifically made for hidpi displays.

Looking forward to the gtk3 theme part.

So, do I need to make things larger for that display or higher res? (I'm not sure I have anything over 1920 )

I think you just have to make a separate hidpi version where you double or triple some characters in certain directions in the xpm files.

You could examine some of the "thick" border themes that are preinstalled in MX23 and compare how/where they differ from the normal-sized xfwm4 themes.

Just try your experiments on your normal display. They'll look ridiculously large on your screen, but will show up better-sized on higher res screens.

[ADDED]
Here is a link to one I made -- https://app.box.com/s/ysnozrgvyekgb4h01p0hhf89szmad742

which I modified from the OneColor set of xfwm4 themes.

I provided that link in our wiki entry about borders that are too thin. You can add yours there as well.

Love those icons with the theme. Kind of a retro look.

Just noticed "Linux -This is the way!" in your sig. Mandalorian? Good series.

I very like icons like Artwork or Data - kinda realistic picture - quite contrary to these silly monochrome icons ...

Great composition @CharlesV!

I've come back around to Obsidian as well, like many I overdid Faenza very badly in the 2010's but Obsidian is one of the few non-flat themes that doesn't go to steampunk extremes or Windows 7 Aero glass-everywhere dated looks..

Glad they are a hit. Yes, The Mandalorian was excellent.. and since I do believe linux is the way forward... seemed like the perfect tag line :-)

Thanks! ya, I liked Faenza icons, but I think Obsidian is a little more subtle and yet has a great look about it I am definitely not a flat icon person ;-p ... all this horsepower in a graphics card and then flat? I prefer some depth.

OK, what I hope to be the "final" Piranha theme submission for MX25

The regular Piranha v3 theme:
Updated Piranha theme for submission to MX25
- Piranha v3
- Added prelights
- Mods to some icons
- Modifed borders to larger grab surfaces
- Cleaned up and adjusted some lines

Piranha v3
https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code ... 2NT8NzlrlX

And the new Piranha HiRes theme ( geared more for hidpi and 4K systems) :
- Created the Piranha-HiRes version
- Decreased HiRes Version Height and Icons for more streamline look (closer to lower res version)
- Polished some HiRes areas

Piranha-HiRes v3
https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code ... 66HVJQNEAk

To maximize colors and viewing, install the Obisidian-Aqua icons!

To install this theme, extract the Piranha folder,
copy the Piranha folder to your /usr/share/themes folder
( you will need to use sudo ),
and then use MX tweak to choose and apply it.

Some screenshots of how it should look:

I was so excited to try it out ...

I searched for Obsidian-Aqua icons, but didn't find some ...
I installed both Piranha-themes, but MX-Tweak didn't show them ...

but then I looked into a Piranha-archive and discovered "xfwm4" - Oups, possibly not usable with kde? :bawling:

Unfortunately Piranha is xfce only at this time. I have had two people request KDE (you are #3 ) , but KDE is *such* different beast I had to put that on the back burner.

The good news is that I do want to learn how to do KDE themes. All the methods I have found appear to be rather complicated and I do enjoy making complicated things ... less complicated :-) ... so it is moving up the list for me and I hope to be jumping into that very soon.
