It may come as a surprise, but I have a strong desire to settle for the definitive version,
and I'm not want updates every two years if possible.
Wallpapers tend to be changed frequently, but I hope they remain as constant as the MX Tools icon.
I think wallpaper is also a system component.
The MX Live USB Maker icon does not change every two years.

Originally, it might be okay for our desktop wallpaper to be very calm.
(I most recommend is No.6 neutral.)

When things change so much every two years,
it gives the impression that things are busy.
It gives the impression that the MX philosophy lacks consistency.

As a user, our bed we can sleep well,
changes with a different design bed at every two years.

The default wallpaper is updated every time a product version MX is released.
Probably, Mint and also deepin stopped doing that and it worked.
MX is maturing today. Now might be the time.

If we have a nice fixed default like Mint,
adding some non-default wallpaper at release might be a good idea.

And if a work emerges that exceeds the existing fixed default, how about updating it?

Actually, I was creating 6 default wallpaper candidates with this in mind.
Of course, works by everyone other than myself must be considered as fixed default candidates.

In some cases, it may be a good idea to invite all forum users to create the ultimate fixed default wallpaper.
Stopping the default sends a strong message "MX is like this." to user.

MX-23, MX-25, MX-27... If, default wallpaper is same,
We can express that Transition to newer version is not changing MX's essence(philosophy).

Wallpaper is just one of the components.

I think you did a great job with the logo, which is also just another component; it evolved into something that can hold its own for many years to come.

Now I see you struggling with wallpapers, seeking inspiration, and it's all over the place at this point, and that's a good thing.

You have proven to the community that you have a good taste, and the feedback generally guides you in the right direction. You don't just throw pointless childish temper tantrums (like some team members around here), you actually appreciate honest feedback and use it to make your art better. That's also a good thing.

BUT

At this point I kind of wish you to go further.

I see potential in you to elevate MX in the aesthetics department to a whole new level. I think you should start a project of "the new default MX look and feel", in all alspects, from wallpaper all the way to entire default XFCE configuration. So, the whole default desktop.

And no, don't point me to your custom distro variant that you showcased a while ago, that was way too "revolutionary", way too mac-looking, and way too "art"-ish.

We need to polish what we have, for a better default experience, not just flip everything upside-down. Not everyone around here wants a dock, but I'm pretty sure everyone wants their icons in system tray to be properly sized and spaced, and other details like this.

I believe you have the skill and taste to polish the entire default experience, and I believe the main devs are capable of recognizing and appreciating that.

That's my five cents.

Wallpaper the same over versions? Not going to happen Just stating it the way it is.

Sorry to say (frankly) that I think just the opposite :

I like that it changes (no matter it's MX or something else) cause it gives the feeling and the "excitement" of refreshment: a "brand new" release ...
... and .. #6 is the worst imho , even ugly, even terrible (sorry).

To be very honesty, MX team is not so much flexibility at design change...
If I said that (let's upgrade overall design), I'd probably get rejected. but For example,
I have to say that the MX's default panel design is far behind the other distros...

That's because you're going too far. You want to re-make everything, turn everything upside-down, instead of polishing what has already been established.

You need to understand that MX is the way it is because the people behind it want it to be this way, because that's the way they like things to be.

If you focus on IMPROVING/POLISHING instead of REPLACING, I'm sure the devs will be very open to your creations.

I will summarize the current situation and write a conclusion.

・About stopping default wallpaper updates -> Emphasis should be placed on thefresh excitement of the release.
(keep changing at release per 2 years)

・About new (MX-25 etc.) overall design and new MX default design -> Instead of revolutionizing,
I (We) should be conscious of "improvement with user feedback, and evolution".

I like involving the whole MX community to come up with new wallpaper images for every new release.

That community aspect is important in my eyes.

Your posts seem to come across to me as you determining or wanting to determine what the path should be for MX. Realize you are not the one to do that.

I jump to conclusions too quickly and seek the ultimate correct answer too much.

No, you're just completely and utterly oblivious to the language barrier she's dealing with. But it doesn't come as a surprise, being oblivious and arrogant is pretty much everything you do around here.

She's just in love with the project and has a strong need to get involved and contribute her best. Smugness and self importance is YOUR trait, not hers, stop projecting, we can see through it.

So one can work on refining and polishing for the main MX mothership with the established parameters (ie existing logo, relevant wallpapers, colors of default theming etc..) Aside from that you can take it in any direction you want with the incredible build tools and make your own creation completely... not to replace the parent organization of course but to extend it's capabilities for whatever niche you want to make it serve..

As an example my own project AV Linux exists to serve a niche, it's quite different from MX in many ways but it can only exist because MX as a core organization provides such a strong foundation and roots, otherwise I have no firm footing to extend from.. Of course a niche may occasionally influence MX if it's a direction that can potentially better MX as a whole (ie as recently shown with upgrading PipeWire to it's stable release) but even the best and most skilled Respinners (pointing at myself to heed this advice first) here need to remember it's the cake that holds up the icing and gives it form..

Just want to let you know that you inspired this: This is an AI experiment which I edited afterwards in GIMP to fix the missing and the weird parts;
who knows I might bake it for real some day..
