This is a closed source application. I am an enthusiast of open source solutions. PDF4QT is still under development, but as it is open source I think it is important to publicize it.

I'm also an open source enthusiast. I'm also somewhat pragmatic.

Same reason I uninstalled it. Not interested and more importantly don't need it to edit anything. Or maybe it was a watermark feature I refuse to look at, can't remember. NightPDF can insert images and text and can draw over whatever is in the doc but I had trouble saving at a certain point and gave up. Plus there is no font options whatsoever so that's kinda sucky when trying to add text. Edit's not the right word more like modify. But if all you need is to fill in the boxes, or add a pic of a signature, it'll do that. Both Okular's way bloated appimages don't run in mx21.3 and don't care to install either when qpdfview, pdfsam, and pdf arranger do all the basics without all the bloat of flatpak acting like you need a second OS.

I still use Xournal for annotating pdfs. The only annoyance is that Xournal wants to save it as a "xdj" file... so I use the print-to-file feature to save the output to a new pdf.

Okular is open source with editing capability. It is a KDE app.

I just did an apt install okular & it brings a lot of new files with it - 180 to be exact. I'm using Openbox on a converted Fluxbox install, so I've got a lot of KDE dependencies that need to be fed.

Even so, the following quote is from apt:

After this operation, 154 MB of additional disk space will be used.

So it looks like installing it the old fashioned way, as opposed to appimages that supposedly use a Gig of space, is a MUCH more storage space friendly solution.

I'm running the latest version of MX, which may or may not be essential to be able to install Okular. I'm going to install it & test it out over time to see if I'll switch to it.

@handyOkular is pre-installed in MX 23 kDE. That size sounds about right.

I just opened it, & was really surprised by how quickly it opened, like blink of the eye stuff.

Then I opened a complex pdf copied from the Al Jazeera news website, & it again, opened instantly. I am impressed.
