Well it is the only version I have been able to burn, newer versions produce coasters. I downloaded and tried to burn the most recent and worked backwards and this version is the only successful burn.
If the ISO images were not so bloated with stuff, they would download faster and not eat up all my credit, I had to go and buy another £20 block of data to get internet back up.
All I want to do is get the GRUB Bootloader reinstalled and people are fixated on end of life or "its too old, we can't help you" which isn't that helpful.
I have tried and followed several tutorials online and as a last ditch attempt to get help, come to the community of the distro and I am being shown the door, if I had money then I could afford a new machine but we're not all made of money.
I may as well just run a cracked version of windows.
Ciao

The plain and simple truth is that you have a nine year old machine and all the symptoms you have reported sound like hardware failure. No amount of tinkering in MX or Linux in general is going to fix a broken part.

CD or DVD
https://www.shoplinuxonline.com/linux-usb.html version - MX 23 for $11.99 USD on a 32 Gb USB drive. DVD are $3.19 USD. Same vendor that Linux Mint endorses.

Does you bios 'Boot' section have MX listed?
Insyde crappy bios (at least some of them) have a provision where the efi boot loader must be physically added to the boot list. If you don't see MX in your boot list:
In the 'Security' section of the bios you must set an administrative password. Once the password is set, you can go to the Boot section and there will be a section asking about adding boot loaders. From there, you can select the MX efi and add it.
