Hello.
I have instaled MX-21.3 WF KDE but now i have changed my PC components from Intel i3-10100 to Ryzen 7 5700G. After components changing i have boot only windows SSD but MX-21.3 KDE SSD and MX-23 KDE SSD i can't at all. I have try to repair Groob Boot (from Live USB MX-23 KDE) to both Linux SSDs but always fail. I can't boot Linux. SSD with MX-21.3 is main and all day o/s.
Any help to boot again to MX-21.3???
THX

What kind of error message are you getting?

Are you sure the problem is due to Grub?
Did you change anything about disks?
And: Have you tried "Boot Rescue Menus" on live session? (at welcome screen, to boot with, indirectly)

Just as I thought. What if you try changing the order back?
It's probably unable to find grub, though in that case generally it displays a prompt as
grub>
On live session: "Chroot Rescue Scan" from menu... Does it detect the installed MXs ?
P.S. You can still post "Quick System Info" from menu when on live session, that will be helpful for all who're willing to help.

are you able to get to a different tty with the key combination
Ctrl+Alt+F1 (or you can try with F2 - F7 if F1 doesn't work) and log into a console at all?

@Charlie Brown I can't go back because I've done the switch from Intel to AMD Northbridge.
There is no grub> prompt because it doesn't run the install at all.
I will try the "Chroot Rescue Scan" and post the report and post the KSI for the desired distro partition.
@xaol No boot at all. No tti or anything. Just a blank black screen with a dash at the bottom flashing :(

I moved from deadlock :) and using the "Chroot Rescue Scan" tool found my desired SSD again and booted MX21.3 to a point near the login screen with a black background and a mouse arrow moving around the screen but nothing more. The login screen never appears.
How do i perform a Verbose System Load to see what happening and post here?
I repeat that i switched from the i3-10100 to the R7 5700G, so I'm guessing it's something to do with the integrated graphics, maybe?
P.S. Sorry for the late reply. I work the afternoon shift at a company so I'm not all myself... :(

I wish you posted the QSI cause we even don't know whether it's Uefi / Legacy ..

Hi
If no grub is seen....I am thinking the boot order has changed. ..at boot up when you see the bios splash screen....press F12
-> gets you into boot order menu....select a drive that is not in top position and press F5 or F6....something like that...to move second or third drive to the top and save that change with F10
if F12 does not work...my bios is delete key....yours might be F2.....find the setting to enable the boot order....change it and save the change with F10
I am suggesting he is booting a drive that has no bootloader (not windows not linux)

Here it is. Clean QSI from LiveUSB MX23.
The situation is still such that loading MX21.3 right next to the SDDM Login screen darkens it and throws out the mouse arrow which moves normally. I managed to log in via Ctrl+Alt+F1 as a user, the distro is loaded complete with a graphical environment, but after that the USB ports freeze (or something else), that is, the screen image is frozen and nothing reacts.

Can you try this?
Add:
Code: Select all
idle=nomwait nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=5500
in boot parameters then go on boot.
(Normally you press E on Grub menu, then add after ...
ro quiet .... and press F10 to go on boot)

splasht is there by default on live session (a simplified (text) version of splash that you can disable if you like).

Hi.
I tried this line of code in Grub now
Code: Select all
idle=nomwait nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=5500
but everything remains the same :(
Now I think my nvme Gigabite is dead because my wife's windows installation is broken and can't install windows on that nvme anymore :( Oh my Goodness, it seems i have Gremlins in my PC :(

S O L V E D !!!
I had an Image of an entire SSD running MX Linux that was made from Macrium (found it accidentally) .
I restored that Image to the SSD, did a Grub Reinstall from Live MX and everything worked from 1st!!!
