Note that the graphics drivers on my x201 are the same as OP's and it is working fine.
On the firefox forums, people are talking about disabling hardware acceleration and also a new feature called 'GPU Sandboxing'. I looked into both of those settings but it didn't help.
I also tried forcing an older version in Synaptic manager for each of the other packages that were upgraded along with firefox but it shows version 2.36.... (the one prior was 2.38.4) and as such it wants to remove quite a lot of other packages which I don't want.
If anyone is desperate ( I only have one browser), I suggest you download FIREFOX-ESR from the repos for now.
EDIT: Note that over on the forums, people are saying that their youtube video playback is choppy. I didn't notice that on Firefox 110, however I did notice it on Firefox-ESR which is why I posted the info about what else was upgraded alongside Firefox 110 namely all the java and webkit stuff. Firefox-ESR does not have the new 'GPU Sandboxing' feature.
EDIT EDIT: I have a 3 rd laptop also running MX19.4 but it still has firefox 109.1 on it and is working fine. Firefox 109.1 has 'GPU Sandboxing' as well so I'm stumped now.
