If your using XFCE I can't be of help at the Moment since I'm using KDE and don't have XFCE installed. It should be possible however keep looking :)

Does POL add launchers to the menu (or whatever you use instead of it)?
If yes, right click on the item and click "Pin to Task Manager"
Another option is to run the application and then right click on the item in Task Manager and click "Pin to Task Manager"

There are icons in the main menu and task bar already. But they are "blank". I want to replace them with the actual software icons as shown on the desktop. I have already mentioned I am using KDE.
