@chrispop99 I tried a quick simple just build of the version from Bookwork for MX-21, didn't go, so I'll follow up on it after I catch up on other updates and packages that can be done quickly.
Thank you.
Chris

yesterday we fixed the telegram-desktop entry in popular apps to actually pull from debian-backports. it wasn't before. it should now be installing 3.1.x

@dolphin_oracle yep, I saw. The backports and Sid versions are both kinda old. Debian may update backports again before I get to it. This one may be a cat and mouse game.

Bookworm and backports both have 3.1.1 now. The backports changelog notes:
- Disable OpenGL acceleration by default, can be re-enabled in settings.
The same may be necessary for the 3.1.8 from Sid.

Well, after rebuilding libtgowt-dev from backports, I can use it to backport 3.1.8 from Sid, at least for 64-bit. I can see in the debian/rules file that the maintainers know that it eats lots of memory during the build, and are trying to prevent that with build flags.

I installed the 3.1.8 from my backport, and I still get a message that it's really old. On a whim, I let it update itself, and somehow, now it reports 3.3 and the nag message is gone! Can anyone else reproduce that with 3.1.1 from backports? What architectures will it update itself upon besides amd64 if that's true?
If it can update itself, I'm tempted not to do the rather lengthy backports.
