It's provided on SourceForge.

fehlix wrote: Sun Sep 05, 2021 11:05 am Live-system: two "glitches:

* Live-boot appears to hang due to requested live-password change:

User can select boot option "password" to change live users password (demo/root) before booting:
Under boot options select password:
boot-option-live-change-pw-before-boot.png
press enter and it lists "Boot option: password"
boot-option-live-pw-change.png
But when booting the system will just hang at "live scripts ...":
boot-option-live-change-pw-system-hangs.png
So currently the user need to know to press Alt-F1, to see the password change screen:
boot-option-live-alt-f1-change-pw.png

The fix was already send up to gitlab live-intitrd.gz, but somehow have been overloaded by other changes.
So will upload again...

* A small "translation" item for an already translated string with the "Boot options" menu:

An already translated string within the boot options menu "vcard menu: ...." appears not to be translated.
Examples in French and Spanish:
boot-option-live-vcard-menu-not-translated.pngboot-option-live-vcard-menu-not-translated-fr.png
The reason: An already fixed typo of the orignal string in English seems to be have reappeared within the menu. So will check again.
thanks @fehlix

Just successfully installed beta 2 on my system. No weird stuff just yet. Was expecting to be greeted with black screen like in VB, but no such thing.

Nice surprise for me was Windows getting seen right from the getgo (haven't booted to it yet, but I wager that will work fine). Notes state to do sudo update-grub and reboot, but that gets taken care of automagically now.

Set it to boot my trusty install per default in MX Boot Options, also works like a peach.

Did not detect my default sound card in MX Select Sound, I seem to have a few (soundcard, nvidia, tv, webcam), so just selected that. Tested it, no dice. Went to the volume control, saw it was on 30something%, I need a wee more to hear things (almost deaf), so upped the line out to 100%.

Everything else so far (the above) looks the same as it does when I got in MX19 (yay for my super long notes file). Have to work my way through that. If I do run into any snags I will of course let y'all know.

Before I upgrade to beta 2, I'm interested in knowing the most relevant differences between updating beta1 via apt and updating via reinstall to beta2.

You'll not be carrying lingering things from beta 1. A reinstall is done in a jiffy.

The major things are in the announcement https://mxlinux.org/blog/mx-21-beta-2-n ... -purposes/

Updating via apt won't change any stock defaults that you may have changed or ones that may have been fixed since some are established at install time.

I mentioned this under beta 2 Fluxbox, but @Jerry3904 mentioned that the MX Welcome is not under the control of the Fluxbox team, so I thought I would mention here.

Is it possible to change the color splash (just below the window title bar) to a set of colors that blend better with the colors of the default conky and wallpaper? Since this will be the first impression that everyone sees when the system is booted up for the first time, I thought it might be a nice polish for the final.

got a graphic for a suggestion? its harder than it looks.

if you like, you can play with it. the graphic is /usr/share/mx-welcome/header.jpg. you can change the file and and start mx-welcome to see how it looks agains light and dark themes.

@dolphin_oracle

Here is my attempt at something different. I'm not a graphic designer, but to me one of the easiest way to bring the welcome screen into a better default look with the default wallpaper is to grab a section of the wallpaper with our logo applied over it. To me it is not as visually disruptive because you are seeing a similar color palette when it first opens, and it kind of meshes with our code name "Wildflower" as well.
