It's awesome to see how well he knows the OS already!

And he's not even seen our final form!

It is a very well done and thorough review.
I kinda wish he tried to give lazpaint a try rather than going straight to installing gimp, but I get it… use what you’re used to.
I’ll definitely check out his non-MX videos, never get enough time to mess with other things myself nowadays.

I like the detailed look at the distro, taking apps one by one, it didn't stop at "the wallpaper sucks" or "I don't like the widget style" that so many "reviewers" do. Great job!

I searched YouTube the other day, I found 1 very short but ok review, one long boring and inexperienced review, and a few that were just clicking through with subtitles.
It’s really good to see someone fiddle through and experiment with the desktop. The visual and audio feedback is the best user testing IMO. Not that our user testing here isn’t good too.

I love Tyler's accent - so pleasant to my crude American ears. I predict that the big MX review will be from DistroTube (not a very risky prediction). His top three MX videos have over 100,000 combined views now. And don't be surprised if Mental Outlaw or Luke Smith do a review to their 100,000+ youtube followers. I might be able to give them each a nudge in that direction. I know we all fondly recall Mental Outlaw's great video, "
A Civilized Discussion of the Best Linux Distro Amongst Polite /g/entoomen", which prominently featured MX at the 22-second mark:

edit - I'm wrong about DistroTube.
@dolphin_oracle has over 100,000 views for his top MX video, and InfinityGalactic has over 700,000 views (!!!!) for his top 3 MX videos.

took a scan and nice job to reviewer and the TEAM! will watch it more closely tomorrow AM with my pot of coffee before i go out to work! congrats!
p.s. some of the short so-called reviews are no sound and no commentary and just a fast play look-see.

It's also one of the best LXDE distributions. Who could have known? It's a small install from the MXPI, and very usable, locally and remote with x2go, with zero tweaks.

I was wondering what you were talking about. I typed LXDE in MX Package Installer. I see it. I loved LXDE Lubuntu for years (until the final version fell out of support, actually.).
Hopefully not going off topic much again: I've never had multiple desktop environments. What kind of risk will I have if I install that? Can I safely switch back to MX's desktop? Is this stranger danger? If so, I'm not doing it. What's the risk? (How would I switch back and forth? I've never done it. Or, had a bad experience doing similar. I can start a new thread if you think it deserves that.).

@az2020 No risk at all that I'm aware of. I've usually had at least two DEs installed for most of my long history with Linux. XFCE and LXDE in particular coexist well. You can pick which DE you want to log into from a menu at the top of the lightdm login screen. Once logged in you switch back and forth by logging out and logging back in selecting the other DE. LXDE is also a very small footprint on disk. Here a link to a screenshot of LXDE on MX21 beta 1, running remotely in x2go, only slightly tweaked for wallpaper and panel appearance.

On my manjaro install, lxde has co-existed with Xfce since around 2016 as a backup DE in case I can't log into Xfce for some reason (not that it has ever happened).
I'm not sure but I believe lxde is gtk2 (it's no longer developed but just continues to work), so changes to gtk3 and xfce's own changes from 4.10 all the way to 416 don't affect it.
I log into lxde once in a while just to check that it's working.

I cannot handle this emotional roller coaster.

I was literally anticipating meeting my old friend again.
I really liked LXDE. I don't know why it took the turn it did (labor, but I don't really care about the undercarriage. The look/feel). I really liked it. I think the closest is either Linux Lite (windows'y feel) or Peppermint which had more of the LXDE feel to me (but was *very* different in other ways. MX is very close too, to my taste.). I was hoping LXDE had a revival the past 2 years.

The Docklike Taskbar is a welcome addition.
I also agree with the choice of gThumb as the default image viewer.
Also fonts look darker, more readable.
